The shock rocker — whose controversial lyrics and stage antics have made him the target of some Christian groups — is being tapped to play Christ in an upcoming film. “Diamond Dead” is a far cry from “The Passion of the Christ.” It’s a dark comedy about a rock band that makes a deal with the devil and — according to an excerpt of the script posted on line — in the film, Jesus smokes pot. “Diamond Dead” will be directed by George Romero, who also did “Night of the Living Dead,” and music was written by Richard Hartley, who composed for “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

“The idea of Marilyn Manson in the role of Jesus Christ is getting all sorts of reactions,” according to the “Diamond Dead” web site. “Someone emailed me saying that it’s a horrible and anti-Christian idea, but nevertheless they are praying for us.”

When called by the Scoop, Manson’s rep had no comment

well that sounds cool. If you ignore for a second the fact that he had an album called "Antichrist Superstar" and take away the make-up. Manson is actually a normal Brian Warner.

If this is true, Im starting a pool on how many online petitions there are started by Christians to stop this movie ever being released.

Marylin Manson is a friggin' tool... Nothing shocks me and nothing really offends me... (Hell I wrote a mivie where God Jesus is a drug addict, God is a woman and is seduced to sleep with the Devil.) All of that being said, Marylin Manson realizes that no one gives a crap about is s*itty music, so he has to resort to outlandish stage shows, which just further proves he's a no talent. Take off makeup the guy is just a lanky nerd that gets beaten up... But for some reason when he puts on makeup people think he's something special, or to be feared?? What an absolute tool.

i used to feel 100% the same as you do. however, his music ranges from crap to quite good.

Yeah...I hate his music, but simply love his gimmick! That's why I own so many Manson albums! I've been suckered in by this marketing deal!

I think anyone in the rock side of the music industry that hasn't banged Courtney Love feels left out. On the plus side, you could boast that you stuck your dick in the same place Kurt Cobain and Billy Corgan did. Ha, thats one thing you would be able to have over the Kurt Cobain lovers. Or under.

What I'm saying is you would have never heard his music if he didn't have his dumbass gimmick. His music isn't good enough to be mainstream if he wasn't dressed up like a psedo-homosexual-kabuki-crossdresser. I'm not saying the guy isn't smart, but he is just such an attention hungry tool. And he can't get attention by making people like him, so he gets attention by "shocking" bible belt rednecks that would be shocked if they saw a negro in politics. He's famous because of his gimmick not his music, if you don't believe that then your dillusional.
