boner alert!

Tom Guycott 06-10-2013 03:54 PM

Wonder if there will still be an animated billboard in the background for the "Ultra 64":shifty:

Seriously though, all I remember vividly are the unbeatable combos and Orchid making everyone pass out from flashing her boobs. Even her own palate swap. "My tits are so perfect even *I* can't lay my eyes on them without going into a coma!"

Tom Guycott 06-10-2013 03:58 PM

And T.J. Combo- back when black guys could only be boxers in fighting games.

owenbrown 06-10-2013 04:11 PM

Please don't fuck this up Microsoft

Emperor Smeat 06-10-2013 04:25 PM

Double Helix Games, developer of Silent Hill Homecoing, are the ones working on this game.

Kalyx triaD 06-10-2013 04:40 PM

lol

Droford 06-10-2013 04:57 PM

I still have my killer kuts bonus CD with all themes, nice touch on the remix in the 2nd video of the Instinct theme

alvarado52 06-10-2013 05:05 PM

Homecoming wasn't that bad, but obviously this isn't remotely the same type of game.

Droford 06-10-2013 05:28 PM

I wonder if they'll keep Orchid's flash and Maya's elephant drop. I wonder if Maya will even be in it.

Kalyx triaD 06-10-2013 06:04 PM

Never pegged you a KI fan, Dro.

Kane Knight 06-10-2013 07:04 PM

Is it Bone only, or is it getting a 360 version?

Emperor Smeat 06-10-2013 07:07 PM

Exclusive to Xbox One.

Cool King 06-10-2013 07:07 PM

I'm sure it's only on Xbox One.

No 360 version, sadly.

Kane Knight 06-10-2013 07:40 PM

Meh. Not sure I'd buy it anyway. I have this certain nostalgia for the first title, but it did come out back when I routinely played fighting games.

Still, would have been more interested if it was for the 360 as well.

(No, I didn't expect it to come out for the Playstations or anything)

I played the hell out of the arcade game. Primarily cause no one else did lol. Didn't like getting my ass kicked by other people.

Kalyx triaD 06-11-2013 12:49 AM

It's funny you say that. I have a blog idea on why this, well... ugly game, may be a very good move for Xbox One during launch period.

Juan 06-11-2013 01:20 AM

Looks legit.

owenbrown 06-11-2013 02:18 AM

Highly suprised that I am not the only KI fan on TPWW

Killer Instinct is a day-one digital-only release on Xbox One, and features -- get this -- one character. Jago is free to play on launch day. Everyone else -- unspecified returning characters as well as original fighters -- will cost money. Price is to-be-determined (of course).
This is in fact a free to play game.

Ultra Mantis 06-11-2013 10:41 AM

Microsoft playing an Xbone exclusive game of corrupt a wish here.

Kane Knight 06-11-2013 10:57 AM

Isn't the Xbone a corrupt a wish to begin with?

Ultra Mantis 06-11-2013 10:59 AM

Xbone is the monkey paw in mechanical form.

KIRA 06-11-2013 11:05 AM

As much as I want this I am so sick of Microsoft finding new ways to fuck us that I am simply sticking to Nintendo and Sony

Double Helix clarified some of the earlier news about the game and stated the upgradeable demo was the source of the confusion.

The game will have both a normal retail release and a free-to-play version which is the demo that can be upgraded.

Quote:

In particular a few rather important notes were made, the first thing mentioned was that there was a small misconception with the game being free-to-play. While the game is a launch title for the Xbox One, fans will be able to purchase the full game on it's release. There will also be a demo which comes with Jago as playable character where you can play all of the game's modes including online mutliplayer.

If you decided after playing the demo that you liked the game, you can selectively purchase packages which feature various characters.
The game will also come with 40 training missions to help players get used to the controls and KI style.

Kalyx triaD 06-11-2013 09:27 PM

Alright, cool.

Emperor Smeat 06-12-2013 04:54 PM

Based on early impressions and the move guide shown for the demo, Killer Instinct is getting the "Mortal Kombat" treatment for rebooting the controls.

Less focus on the traditional dial-a-combo string system and more towards a simpler button-based system.

Kalyx triaD 06-12-2013 05:47 PM

That actually wouldn't be simpler.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-12-2013 06:04 PM

How is that not free to play? Download part for free, then buy little packs in game for more content.

Where's the confusion?

Will it ALSO copy Street Fighter?

Kalyx triaD 06-12-2013 07:52 PM

Well the six button layout is back, three punches and three kicks. Their dash mechanic emulates SF 3rd Strike as they proudly admitted. I don't know if they're looking toward SF4 for anything other than a 2.5D presentation.

Apparantly, Madcatz were showing off a fightstick for the game or something, at EVO. They mentioned the Xbox One and got boo'd.

Yeah. Silly crowd.

Seems like a good deal. It's a next gen fighter coming out cheaper than many current gen ones.

Microsoft creative director Adam Isgreen and producer Torin Rettig revealed a few more details about the game that will be sure to make fans of the first two games in the series quite pleased.

For starters, the original announcer Chris Sutherland will be selectable, in lieu of Killer Instinct's new announcer, for those wanting a slightly more authentic experience. In addition to his original lines, all of the game's new lines have been recorded by Sutherland and according to Isgreen: "for 18 years different, sounds exactly the same."

Additionally, classic costumes will be available for those not keen on the revised looks for some of their favorites. How these will be delivered was not revealed, but most likely will come as DLC, and hopefully part of the game's $40 "Ultra edition" that was announced during gamescom.

Lastly, Isgreen hinted that fans of the music from Killer Instinct and its sequel would not be let down. "For most of you who really love KI 1 and 2, the music of KI 1 and 2, we've got you covered."
