old wwf bleeps

I was watching some old wwf stuff of youtube, and the question came to mind:

Anyone know WHY is the E just bleeping the verbal version WWF, and not "world wrestling federation"?

My best guess is that bleeping WWF is easier and less distracting than bleeping the full three word version

I think a similar topic was posted, but I couldn't find it.

I think it was to do with the lawsuit, I'm sure it was based around the use of the letters 'WWF', rather than the actual words.

WWF is the acronym for World Wrestling Federation AND World Wildlife Fund. An agreement was made between the 2 entities many years ago and everything was okay until the Wildlife Fund petitioned that the Federation broke their agreement involving international advertising or something to that effect. That's when all hell broke loose.

Technically speaking, they could change the name back to World Wrestling Federation if they so desired. They just can't use the acronym via the court ruling.

Also, recently they made an agreement with the new person who took over the top spot in the Wildlife Fund shortly after they came on board, in order to be able to use the WWF acronym in any footage pre-May 6, 2002.
