I know that guy

Character actors; we all know them and appreciate a lot of their work. I came to realize the other day, however, that I only know some of them by a certain role and not by their names. For example, I always refer to Steve Jenkins, who has had a fairly distinguished career and an Oscar nomination, as "Dr. Doback" for his role in Stepbrothers. Another would be Clancy Brown, the voice of SpongeBob's Mr. Krabs and an accomplished actor, whom I know simply as "The Kurgan" for his work as the baddie in The Highlander.

Does anyone else have a guy in mind or do this as well?

Christopher Lambert was always Lord Raiden to me

Jon McGinley... who nobody knows unless you say "Dr. Cox".

McLegend 07-27-2013 12:17 PM

The Warden from Shawshank.

I loooove Dr. Cox (LOVE DEM COX), McGinley was friggin' awesome in those Miller Lite commercials too as the "MTL" commissioner.

Triple Naitch 07-28-2013 10:24 AM

Jason Biggs will always be Pie Fucker.

The Condor 07-28-2013 12:23 PM

For classic TV buffs, Burt Mustin is a gimme.

Nowhere Man 07-28-2013 09:18 PM

Clancy Brown is mine, but instead of the Kurgan, I only ever think of him as Lex Luthor.

Lock Jaw 07-29-2013 12:20 AM

David Boreanez I always think of as Angel, and Nathan Fillion as Mal Reynolds. Even when I see them on their "new" long running successful shows, I am like "It's THOSE GUYS!"

The Condor 07-29-2013 10:48 AM

I think Peter Stormare would definitely qualify. I keep coming up with new faces.

Nah, Raiden was played by Connor McCleod.

This sort of stuff tortures me when I watch TV shows and movies. I see someone, I recognise them and it really pisses me off if I can't work out where I know them from.

Just watched an old X-Files episode and it took me ages to realise that I knew someone in it as Don Draper's neighbour in the last season of Mad Men.

Should be an easy one

Always think of as "Leslie Neilson", and not as his characters.
