Summerslam review

The show had some strong points but a lot left to be desired. Let's start with what I liked.

The Bray vs. Kane match was earlier in the card than I expected, but I could mark out for an exploding ring, even when the Wyatt's interference was a given. That was awesome.

The Christian vs. Del Rio match was again, higher in the card than expected, but a great, competitive match. Same with Sandow vs. Cody. Because Cody got a clean win, I'd like to see how the feud would continue down the line.

Punk vs. Brock had my draw drop a few times on how they brutalized each other. When I heard Paul say the match was no DQ, the ROH prude in me said "Why don't you just tip off that Punk's gonna win after a chairshot to the head," but I was impressed with the stiff shots and submission counters they gave each other. I later realized the no-DQ was just an excuse for Heyman to get at Punk with no real consequences. Punk getting stomped with the board covering the monitor was a good "Holy S*** moment too.

The Big E and AJ/Dolph and Katilin match I marked out for because I am a Jersey guy and rooted for AJ and Big E even if they were acting bad.

Now for what I didn't like. You're gonna leave out the Shield? Are you f***n kidding me? You're top draw?

The Bella match was just some cheap excuse to promote their reality show and had a distracted crowd chanting for JBL and Jerry.

As for the main event, both Cena and Bryan gave their all, but HHH was a constant distraction, and I just knew he was going to do something sneaky. It would be nice if he Pedigreed Bryan and let Cena retain the title and be the corporate champion. But people would mark out for that, simply not acceptable. They even had a nice promotion leading up to it passing Cena as an "entertainer." Instead, they did the usual Money in the Bank drive-by, and Orton once again is champion after Bryan held it for a minute.

What the hell, Vince dosen't like Vanilla midgets anyway. Gertner, I think you and Vince would get along fine.

hhh was a constant distraction because you let him be one. i thought he did a really great job of making himself invisible and letting the match be about the 2 competitors. until it mattered.

The Shield isn't a top draw whoever you are not yet.

Savio 08-18-2013 11:47 PM

I think this Allows DB to chase the title and eventually win it off Orton.

Savio 08-18-2013 11:48 PM

All of the Shield was on the preshow.

glanville6 08-18-2013 11:53 PM

While the results disappointed me, the show was better than Wrestlemania. Good work on the show.

Wait, what?

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-19-2013 12:30 AM

You are top draw?

Loved SummerSlam. Bryan getting screwed over will position him to be more sympathetic than ever. Plus we can now say the guy is a former WWE Champion.

I really enjoyed the ppv as a whole. Probably my favorite non-Wrestlemania ppv since Money in the Bank 2011.

I don't care for Orton (I don't know if I dislike him or Del Rio more, they are both awful). He's just boring...but I will see what happens as I am really excited about Cena being gone for a while and Daniel Bryan having a run as 'the top face'. Also loved, loved, loved Lesnar/Punk (possibly Brock's best match ever) and I am fascinated to see what Punk does next (because I doubt Brock is showing up again until 2014 and Axel isn't ready to be feuding with Punk).

#1-norm-fan 08-19-2013 04:42 AM

I'd say other than Extreme Rules 2012 this was my favorite PPV since MITB 2011.

Black Widow 08-19-2013 07:31 AM

i must be the only one that thought this was a 2 match show & nothing else was good.

Savio 08-19-2013 07:33 AM

What about AJ Lee's match?

Shisen Kopf 08-19-2013 07:50 AM

AJ's Lee match was very average.

Shadrick 08-19-2013 09:02 AM

You are top draw.

Ultra Mantis 08-19-2013 09:15 AM

Did you are top draw drop a few times?

He has a bright future as a ref.

"The Christian vs. Del Rio match was again, higher in the card than expected, but a great, competitive match. Same with Sandow vs. Cody. Because Cody got a clean win, I'd like to see how the feud would continue down the line"

When Sandow cashes in, wins the title, Cody is now in line for a shot. Pretty

"Punk vs. Brock had my draw drop a few times on how they brutalized each other. Only thing I agree with you on. Match of the night for

"The Big E and AJ/Dolph and Katilin match I marked out for because I am a Jersey guy and rooted for AJ and Big E even if they were acting bad."

Hopefully Ziggler is now finished with the nonsense, and gets going on something worth doing. AJ has ran her course.

"Now for what I didn't like. You're gonna leave out the Shield? Are you f***n kidding me? You're top draw?"

LOL, that's all ill say to that.

"The Bella match was just some cheap excuse to promote their reality show and had a distracted crowd chanting for JBL and Jerry."

Natty won, that's all that matters.

Didn't even notice HHH until the end, I for one enjoyed the match, and I see. The turn coming last week. Nothing wrong with how they did it, they just need to follow it up tonight, which I have no doubt they will.

How will Stephanie react? Vince? Bryan? Intriguing, and that's how entertainment productions are supposed to be, make the people wanna see more.

In closing, quit bitching.

Couldn't disagree more about HHH as a ref. I forgot he was there at all on at least 2 occasions.

I've seen the guy in the McMahon Helmsley and Evolution days. I kept an eye on him even if he was just standing there picking his big nose. XD

o ok

scatterbrain28 08-20-2013 03:26 PM

Oh, and I saw the Shield in one of those WWE commercials promoted as the "Hounds of Justice." They're a top tag team if not a top draw. And the CM Punk video is hilarious, even when it was posted here at my expense.
