Really excited for this card. Been waiting for Barnetts return for a long time...though I'm almost tempted to put money on Mir since his odds are so low. Oh and if Mendes knocks Guidas face out the back of his head I'll be very happy.

I'm definitely more excited for this card than I was initially. I think Mir is a shot fighter, but it will be nice seeing Barnett back... especially for the awkward exchange that will occur between him and Joe Rogan in the post fight interview.

Really pumped for the main event. Co-main not so much because I think Mir is a shot fighter. Guida/Mendes will be a snoozer unless the old Clay shows up (he looks lean as hell btw).
Really digging the new Octagon girl outfits too. Haha! |

Dude went limp. I think it was a flash KO. Not complaining about that one. The Pettis win was surprising. Didn't see Bendo tapping in that one.

Frank Mir did what he always does when he's under pressure, being held in place like that. He's far too patient, looking for his opening, while taking shots to the face. Same thing he did against Lesnar (2nd fight, round 1) and very evidently against Carwin.
It's like nobody told him that his chin doesn't hold up to powerful close range shots like that, so he's happy to keep eating them. |
Jabba is spot on,he got away with it with Big Nog cause he doesnt have KO power amd with Lesnar cause Mazzagotti stopped the action bc of "blows to the back of the head" and saved Mir
Hope they make Benson fight atleast once to build up hype for the 3rd fight. This is a good storylin/rivalry that will get burried bc of the Bendo hate. He cant play a heel. |
I know Pettis hasn't even defended the title yet, but I think an Aldo/Pettis "Super Fight" is more intriguing and fair than a potential Silva/GSP or Silva/JBJ fight.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Bendo didn't see a title shot for at least 2 or 3 fights. Dana never seemed to be really behind him like he was for other champs and is probably glad Pettis won. |
The aldo super fight was talked about a lot postfight. Pettis hurt his left knee while checking a leg kick so he needs an mri, memdez and grant are the number one contenders respectively but it wouldnt surprise me if they had a pettis/aldo nontitle fight the spring 2014

I like Gilbert Melendez a lot, but the fact that he was still ranked as the #1 contender going into this fight shows what a joke the actual rankings are. Grant, Dos Anjos and maybe Thomson if he knocks off Gilbert are all more deserving of a shot at this point.

I never really got into Benson as champ. The combination of controversial decisions (I strongly believe Edgar won their 2nd fight), and talking about God constantly, really rubbed me the wrong way.

Elite? he had razor thin decisions against edgar and melendez, and exposed diaz. He hasnt had a finish since he was in WEC.
