Spoilers - SMACKDOWN - August 23rd
 

* A cage is hanging over the ring.


* Vickie Guerrero opened the show and welcomed WWE Champion Randy Orton. Orton cut a promo saying he didn't know Triple H was going to screw Daniel Bryan and he didn't need his help. He asked fans for their support, and they chanted "No!" Daniel Bryan came out and thanked John Cena for granting him a title shot at SummerSlam, and then ripped Orton for being arrogant and having everything handed to him. Bryan wanted a rematch tonight, but Orton refused and said that it would be at Night of Champions. Orton held up the belt, and Bryan dropkicked him outside of the ring.


* Vickie is backstage upset by what just happened. Wade Barrett interrupts and Vickie announces Barrett vs. Bryan in a steel cage later tonight.


1 - WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel defeated Cody Rhodes. After the match, Paul Heyman cut a promo saying CM Punk is lost without him. Axel said that even though Punk doesn't deserve a title shot, he challenges him to a match for his title on RAW.


2 - Dolph Ziggler pinned Big E. (w/ AJ Lee) with the Zig Zag.


3 - World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio defeated Christian via submission with the armbar. After the match, Ricardo Rodriguez ripped Del Rio and introduced Rob Van Dam. Christian hit Del Rio with a dropkick from the top rope and RVD followed up with a frog splash on Del Rio.


4 - Mark Henry and The Big Show defeated 3MB in a handicap match.


5 - Darren Young defeated Antonio Cesaro.


6 - Daniel Bryan defeated Wade Barrett in a steel cage match. After the match, Randy Orton came in and RKO'd Bryan to end the show.

Sounds like a terrible terrible show

Christian is so much better than RVD it is not even funny.

I assumed it was sarcasm.

I'm sure the cage match will deliver the goods.

I don't much care for the fact that now that Darren Young is a gay icon he gets to beat Antonio Cesaro.

Well, yeah, the rest of the show sounds alright

RVD and Bryan make me sort me want to watch it.

And a triple threat match for the WC title would be a good match with those 3.

Every now and then, even a good poster is allowed poor judgement.

Christian IS better than RVD.

You've seen one RVD match, you've seen them all.

All the jobbers are gonna come out so that they can finally get some wins too.:shifty:

I think 3MB should have beaten Big Show and Mark Henry, since they are the future.

Well, they should have at least done a Shield beat-down after the match.

Darren Young getting a face push now that everyone knows he's gay is pretty funny. Good for the guy, but he's never really been anything more than passable, while Cesaro is fucking fantastic.

Putting Young over Swagger would have been fine and probably meant more for Young, anyway.

Christian should have beaten Del Rio with a roll-up using the tights. Build to Del Rio vs. Christian vs. RVD at Night of Champions.

Titus O'Neil has always been the more talented of the two

Then Christian wins because Alberto is too concerned with Ricardo/RVD.

Hopefully Darren Young will soon come out and admit he's not very good at his job and we can put all this behind us.

I never really got into Titus during NXT Season 2, but the guy has become quite good. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a singles push.

That would be awesome.

I didn't disagree. Christian is good. But so much better? That's down to an individuals take in it I guess. I'd rather watch a dozen of RVD's top matches than Christians though.

JUST MY OPINION.

This is the internet. This is no place for opinions. ONLY FACTS.

Why would it mean more for Young if Cesaro is fucking fantastic? Wouldn't THAT mean more for Young?

And Young getting a push....it makes sense. It's a company thing now. Him coming out brings in a new audience for the product, and he's guaranteed TV time so that the company doesn't look bad, same reason why he won't be getting fired.

It's all brilliant, really lmao.

Christian gets in there and oozes skill. Take away RVDs stunt flips and rolls and you have nothing. I hate how he'll have his legs worked for 10 minutes in a match and then spring to a top rope like it ain't shit.

But the same could be said of Christian. I know there's a perception that RVD matches are 100% spots (rolling thunder, split-legged moonsault, 5-star frog splash and a couple other moves), but Christian always seems to use the stupid jumping outside the ring followed by an uppercut maneuver as well as that ridiculous pendulum kick in the corner, plus now instead of sticking to the Unprettier/Killswitch as his finisher, he basically has stolen Edge’s spear and rides the coattails of his retired friend, which is pretty damn despicable if you ask me.

I think WWE asks Christian to use the spear.

I’m sure they do, but that doesn’t make him using it any less ridiculous.

Yeah not gonna bother with this crap at all. Awful.

If Darren Young were a little better at his job, I'd say they were about to start grooming him to be the first openly gay WWE champion.

That night on Raw where they were on commentary and Titus was just on fucking fire going back and forth with Cole and King while Young was dead silent still sticks out in my mind. He was just laid back and comfortable as fuck. Night and day compared to Young.

If only Titus O'Neil was gay. If only.

Is that one of the RAWs where J.R. was on commentary also and they all joked about how to pronounce the word "washcloth" or am I missing the mark completely?

Young WILL be WWE Champion. It is inevitable, think about the press they will get from it. First Pro Wrestling Champion who is gay.

It's a shame because there are numerous WWE stars better than him.

Tag champion for sure, IC / US champion maybe if he's still relevant in a year or two. Doubt the guy is ever going to be main eventing though, he's just not that good.
