Why can't Smackdown work on Tuesdays?
Why can't Smackdown work on Tuesdays? I mean wouldn't people still be hyped from RAW? And following into a live SD is always more exciting to watch. I mean if they 'film' it on Tuesdays is it so hard to avoid post-production and just have 2 full blown live shows?
Has it been proven that it does better Friday or what? If anything Superstars should be on Friday. I've never even seen Superstars because I don't get that channel. |
I would imagine Tuesday working better for them from a ratings standpoint. It stands to reason that more people are home on Tuesday night rather than Friday night, so more people would inevitably watch.
Think the biggest issue is money since it costs a lot more money to produce live shows than taped ones. Also a lot more easier for them to control things without having to worry about the crowd or matches being sloppy unlike live shows.
Tuesday's potential ratings probably would be higher than Friday's but the WWE probably feels the difference isn't worth the added long term costs. |
Damn, it's a shame since it would get more ratings and with people being fresh from RAW and all. When Friday comes it's like "eh, if I'm not doing anything I'll watch it".... and not like "damn, I can't wait to see the development"
I think its spacing wise too, easier to get more buys from the go home show on a Friday then on Tuesday, keeps everything fresh in the viewers mind.

I don't think I could watch 5 hours of wrestling in two days back to back like that. It's too much for the average fan.
Move it back to Thursday if anything
Thursday is a better day than Friday, for sure.
Just think though, say there's a ppv on Sunday. There's 3 hours there, plus 3 hours Monday, add in 2 hours Tuesday and that's 8 hours over 3 days. I think it would hurt both Raw and Smackdown's rating if it were on Tuesday.
I'm pretty sure they've given a bit of thought to when to put their programs on TV. I could say something about the experienced market researchers and scheduling personnel they employ, but the fact that I've given the matter enough thought to type something about it at all has already given too much effort to the musings of someone who thinks that Marilyn Manson has something intelligent to say to the world.
Because people don't want to watch two wrestling shows in a row and its good to have a show before the pay per view to build up hype...

They never really wanted the moves to Friday, did they? But they do well in that time-slot, comparatively, so maybe they really want to keep it? I wouldn't be opposed to RAW on Monday, Main Event on Wednesday, SmackDown on Thursday and some sort of new show on SyFy in the Friday slot. Main Event very rarely features storyline progression or anything of the sort, so the Friday show could be the last chance before the PPV to build things to a boil.
Fuck, put NXT on Fridays. It's on here Thursday's. People in Canada watch it, because they gave Big.E.Langston a nice pop at the House Show when he faced Sandow.
I'd be all for NXT being on Fridays. :y:
NXT is probably the best booked show on a regular basis.
NXT could have the catch phrase "NXT Friday"
It'd help build anticipation for the guys who are waiting to get called up

Tuesday is when the Lodge meets.
