Big News: Jim Ross Retires from WWE

Per the WWE feed on Facebook, Jim Ross retired from WWE effective TODAY. It said he is retiring from the company to better focus on his business endeavors.

Thoughts?

Razzamajazz 09-11-2013 03:54 PM

it's on the front page of wwe.com too.

Savio 09-11-2013 03:55 PM

Uh what was he doing there?

CWK 09-11-2013 03:56 PM

Here's the link to the WWE.com article

Rammsteinmad 09-11-2013 03:57 PM

I'm sure he'll never be back.

Razzamajazz 09-11-2013 03:57 PM

yeah it's disappointing, but how often does he even announce anymore? the rare ppv? i'm not sure if he does anything backstage anymore either

CWK 09-11-2013 04:01 PM

Can't believe they didn't use him this year at WM29. Would have been nice to hear him call the Punk vs. Undertaker match.

Having him do pre and post show with a few other people like Kofi Kingston was pretty ridiculous IMO

BigCrippyZ 09-11-2013 04:02 PM

I'm sure he'll be around occasionally. Outside of hosting the PPV pre-shows and calling the occasional Wrestlemania match, I'm not sure what exactly he still did for the company in the last several years.

dronepool 09-11-2013 04:03 PM

Bah gawd he'll be back.

Savio 09-11-2013 04:03 PM

I bet Dixie is contacting him right now.

taker707 09-11-2013 04:07 PM

He has been a Talent Relations Consultant for NXT the past few years.

GD 09-11-2013 04:09 PM

Love Jim Ross. He was easily one of the greatest and likable personalities in the WWE.

shows up in TNA

BAH GAWD ITS JR. ITS JR. JR!

seriously though, he is so good at announcing, not that it needed to be said - its obvious. I don't know what WWE thinks when they don't use him. If he went to TNA I might actually watch lol

no he hasn't

he can't

that is why he is forced to just believe the 43 year old guy roleplaying as an 18 year girl who is roleplaying as a 14 year old girl to get off

As noted earlier, WWE announced this afternoon that Hall of Famer Jim Ross is retiring after 20 years with the company. According to F4WOnline.com, Ross met with Vince McMahon earlier today, and the decision was made to end his tenure with the company. The company reason for Ross' departure is that he wants to "focus on his personal business endeavors."

The report noted that the decision was made by Vince McMahon, and that they first heard that it could possibly happen on the day of SummerSlam following the 2K Sports panel. The panel, which was hosted by Ross, featured Ric Flair upsetting WWE officials for going off script and "hijacking" the event. There was heat on Ross for not cutting Flair off and taking control back over the panel. For what it's worth, McMahon commented on Ross' departure on his Twitter account, writing, "Thank you @JRsBBQ for 20 years of service with @WWE."

Just reading Ryan Clarks 'Breaking Update - x2' as to why he was 'fired', great reading. He manages to make the same 3 points and re-word them to make 10 different sub-points. Journalism at its best.

Vastardikai 09-11-2013 07:26 PM

JR's WWE Legacy: 20 years of subtle humiliation and downright disrespect.

I'm waiting for:

Breaking Update - x5: EXCLUSIVE! JIM ROSS SPEAKS OUT ON BEING FIRED!!!

Only then, will the circle be complete.

Even cancer can't stop TazzDan from owning Ryan The Shitman Clarke.

Mercenary 09-11-2013 11:52 PM

If this is Flairs fault....Fuck you Flair

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-12-2013 12:12 AM

Fuck that 2kSports loved what Flair did. Whoooooooo!

Lock Jaw 09-12-2013 12:59 AM

Have to admit, my heart jumped a bit when I visited WWE.com and the first thing I saw was a large picture of Jim Ross and a small bit of text beside it. Then I saw it was just a retirement announcement and chilled out.

Black Widow 09-12-2013 01:05 AM

It wasn't his fault flair was drunk. They should fire flair. Oh wait. Flair won 16 titles in a fake business.

Bad News Gertner 09-12-2013 01:12 AM

AJ Lee's shooting straight tonight

You have to be fair to Flair.

Juan 09-12-2013 02:55 AM

Good for him.

So sick of this idiocy. He wasn't treated any worse than anybody else; in fact WWE has done more to polish and shine up his legacy than anyone or anything. Without WWE he'd be remembered as some fat hick who did some announcing.

TNA actually had a good chance of getting him in 2010 when his previous contract was almost up but only as a real GM and not as an announcer.

I just read some of that post on the main page.... it just sounds too insane to be true.

And on top of it... what the hell was Jim Ross "fired" from? Doesn't he just do the occasional interview and voiceover stuff?

It all sounds retarded IMO

Vince McMahon's on-screen character is an evil, heartless bastard who will fuck with anyone. And anyone with an on-screen role is also a character as well. This kind of shit is as old as the face/heel dynamic. It even has a name: heat. Why is Jim Ross supposed to be immune to it?

That's how I found out about Eddie.

I remember I went to check out WWE.com and I saw a large picture of Eddie and some text but I didn't bother reading the text as I automatically assumed that it was just some sort of article on him or something.

I check out WWE.com a bit more and I do other things, until later in the night I go back to WWE.com and see the same picture but the text catches my eye this time and I read it and I was left completely shocked.

A few differences. When the Boss degrades himself its not the same as him shitting on his workers.

For 20 years his medical conditions and appearance have been mocked on the reg.

Give me a break. This falls into the "No matter what the side is, Tedious will always side with anyone as long as its against the standard." Add this to your list of despicable people and acts you "defend".
