Were you ever scared of any wrestlers growing up

Lol I remember being terrified of Kamala.

I also never used to get dressed in front of the t.v because I thought the people on t.v could see me naked.

Razzamajazz 10-28-2013 10:39 AM

i had a dream in 98 where kane chased me through the halls of my middle school trying to kill me

Heisenberg 10-28-2013 10:43 AM

A little scared that Razor Ramon could stare me to death while he cut those backstage promos, and he'd stare at the screen and they do that slow pan into his face.

Skinner had me convinced he was legit too.

Wake Up Call 10-28-2013 10:54 AM

Papa Shango scared the living day lights out of me

DrCrawford 10-28-2013 11:42 AM

Not scared of one per say, but I was always afraid to go to a show as a kid because I thought if I booed one of them, they'd beat me or my dad up haha

Cool King 10-28-2013 11:45 AM

I used to think that Doink and Dink were pretty creepy when I was a kid.

Shisen Kopf 10-28-2013 12:52 PM

Bad News Brown for sure.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-28-2013 12:53 PM

I was pretty scared of Kane, which is funny cuz I was like 11 or 12 in his height of being scary in '98/'99

Asmo 10-28-2013 01:55 PM

The Undertaker. And no one comes close. The character, and the performance is just so fantastical, that it transcends the 'suspension of reality' and just engrosses you. You start believing it.

The funeral march, the graveyard promos, the mind games, rising up from the dead?

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/KuslLsd1q9E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And even when i'd smartened up to the theatricality of it all, the entire production during the Ministry days frightened me. That goatee, the eyes rolling back, the sacrifices, the latin mumbo-jumbo?

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/XEOR3ppoY0E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And of course, this promo:

slik 10-28-2013 01:56 PM

I remember listening to Isaac Yankem's debut thru a scrambled ppv feed and the announcers put him over frighteningly.

Then I saw him on RAW or Prime Time the next night and was all 'so not rad'.

I liked Villains better, so just like I was #TeamSkeletor I was very #TeamPapaShango and #TeamUndertaker and #TeamJakeTheSnake growing up.

Razzamajazz 10-28-2013 02:21 PM

i also remember seeing the headshrinkers when i was very young coming out with the skulls and smoke and wanting to turn the tv off

Robodiv 10-28-2013 02:34 PM

Adam Bombs eyes fucking terrified me

Fignuts 10-28-2013 03:57 PM

Taz when he was in ecw.

He was such a hard mother fucker in his interviews and stuff, that I always thought that if I ever had the chance to meet him, I'd be too intimidated.

Then he came to Wwe and he was a sweetheart.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-28-2013 04:17 PM

Papa Shango, The Undertaker, Daniel Bryan when he does the Diving Headbutt.

Emperor Smeat 10-28-2013 05:08 PM

The Undertaker during his bodybag phase. Used to thought he actually killed wrestlers as a kid since those guys would never show up again.

The Condor 10-28-2013 05:16 PM

When Mankind showed up it was pretty weird and screwed with me.

Ermaximus 10-28-2013 05:35 PM

Kaintai that time they tried to cut off Val Venis' prick on live tv.

Bad News Gertner 10-28-2013 06:36 PM

It was that fucking mask Kamala used to wear that scared me.

weather vane 10-28-2013 08:15 PM

Kamala as well. But not like 90's Kamala. Only 80's Kamala when his face paint was all fucked up.

Bad News Gertner 10-28-2013 08:54 PM

80's Kamala was scary, especially to a 5 year old like myself. Started watching around 87 and I remember thinking Kamala was going to eat the other wrestlers.

Jannettyzilla 10-28-2013 09:45 PM

Warlord. And The Berserker for about a week, then he became funny.

The Whole F'n Show 10-28-2013 10:08 PM

Mantaur was creepy as fuck...

Lock Jaw 10-28-2013 10:13 PM

No joke, I stopped watching rasslin for a few years because I got scared by Papa Shango. Was traumatized when he made Ultimate Warrior vomit.

Logan 10-29-2013 01:44 PM

Kamala and Papa Shango scared me as well...

the one who scared me the MOST growing up was Jake Roberts. Not by his looks, but by the way he talked and acted, plus using the snake as the exclamation point.

You may consider him creepy instead of scary, but segments like this scared me.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GeL4kTH5EBM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-29-2013 01:49 PM

I wanted the Warrior to get bit I hated that fuck.

Boondock Saint 10-29-2013 04:04 PM

Paul Bearer used to freak me out as a kid

voncouch 10-29-2013 04:55 PM

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/5v1uXyPC5Sk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

That freaked the hell out of me when I first saw it.

Anybody Thrilla 10-29-2013 05:44 PM

Papa Shango for sure.

Tazz Dan 10-29-2013 05:50 PM

The Undertaker. I used to have nightmares of him putting me in a body bag.

Curd 10-29-2013 08:43 PM

Phil Collins when he dressed like a human condom and got beat up by Ultimate Warrior in Bobcat Goldthwait's mind. I was scared because Collins looked like he would fondle Warrior, which thankfully did not happen on camera.

Tony Revolution 10-30-2013 04:59 PM

New Jack was terrifying

Heisenberg 10-30-2013 05:14 PM

Yokozuna during his big push and all was frightening, the Bonzai Drop onto the chest cavity was something I wished upon no one

Fignuts 10-30-2013 05:59 PM

Jake the Snake locking Warrior in that room of snakes was the moment i finally admitted to myself that wrestling was probably fake. Sad day.

#1-norm-fan 10-30-2013 08:45 PM

That Taker promo from the casket after the Yokozuna match and him rising out of the top of the screen scared the shit out of me.

Nark Order 10-30-2013 08:59 PM

My uncle (who got me into wrestling) used to watch a whole lot of Abdullah the Butcher matches on tape and I remember I used to have to go into the other room when he was watching them.

Nark Order 10-30-2013 09:04 PM

I remember specifically him having like 4 or 5 different tapes that he watched on a regular basis and I think all of them had at least one Abdullah match on them. Abdullah the Butcher vs Bruiser Brody matches were always the worst/most scary. Had a nightmare once about one of the matches on the tape and I still remember it.

XL 10-30-2013 09:10 PM

I was scared that the 1-2-3 Kid was gonna grow up and have major problems with drink & drugs (and self-filmed pornos).

Wait. I think I got the wrong end of the stick.

Bad News Gertner 10-31-2013 05:26 AM

I imagine if I were to have watched Ox Baker as a child I'd have pissed my pants. He scares me at age 31.

Crazy Nick 10-31-2013 06:31 AM

The Undertaker by far, he really use to creep me out, especially in his ministry of darkness era.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-31-2013 12:38 PM

Also I was pretty scared of yokozuna when he came in. He was really built as a fucking monster.
