Your top 10 of albums of 2013
I'll post a list soon. Waiting for my Gary Numan CD for a listen to finalize my list.
|
There are some omissions from my top 10, as I have yet to buy the albums by Patricia Petibon, Chris Thile, Tomahawk, and Lady Maisery, which were released this year. Furthermore, the new Hilary Hahn album that was released in the States this year does not come out in the UK until March 2014.
These are the scores I gave to this year's albums in the "Rate the last album..." thread: Quote:

Rilo Kiley - Rkives 8/10 They are not necessarily the best albums I bought this year, but the best from this year. I was hoping for more from the Kuniko Kato album, but maybe I just need to give it some more listens. |

|
Not really able to do a full top 10 at this point, but as of now, my top album is neck and neck between:
Sturgill Simpson: High Top Mountain and Jason Isbell: Southeastern |
I bought an album of Saint-Saens' piano quintets, today, which was released this year. It might end up replacing one of my chosen 10 later this month.
|
Garf, you ever listened to Ryuichi Sakamoto? I'm hammering his "plays the piano" album on spotify ATM.

I'm not too high on Deerhunter. I gave that 2 listens a few months ago.

I concur actually, but I can see why it would make a lot of lists.
Still, no Flume in your top 25 Peter? :( |

also prob slightly biased because I got to interview Bradford Cox this year
but the album was selected with the counsel of 3 of my other contributors and we all agreed on its high placement. still, was pretty surprised it ended up at 6. Was shocked at Iceage at 5 too, though it was one of my favorite records this year |
Dunno if I even listened to 10 new albums this year. Really liked Reflektor though. I'll have to marathon a bunch of stuff before December ends, then I'll come backkkk
|
I finally got Patricia Petibon's Poulenc album, and it is pretty good. It would definitely go in my top 10 list, probably replacing the Rilo Kiley record.
|
I haven't listened to many albums in 2013. I listened to many individual tracks and shit on the radio.
Here are a few of my favorite albums of 2013 (in no particular order) The Wack Album Hesitation Marks Modern Vampires of the City Overgrown welcome oblivion Amok AM Reflektor |

Though I have only listened to these albums in the last couple of weeks or so, Clutch's "Earth Rocker" and These New Puritan's "Field of Reeds" are pretty good albums. They would have both definitely entered my top ten.
|
Most of my top 10 have been named...1 surprising omission from everyone else s list that would be on mine is Elvis Costello & The Roots "Wise Up Ghost".
