Oh yeah I forgot that part in jack reacher where he wore a mech suit. And in Valkyrie where he was in a time loop. And in collateral when the aliens invaded.

Right. I can see someone kind of connecting those two. That's fair. But that's it.

Tom is usually a reason for me not wanting to see a movie. It's not just his scientology that bugs me either, he has a habit of picking really annoying roles. His character in War of the Worlds was just brain-smackingly annoying. For me Tom Cruise doesn't make the movie worse, but he serves as a canary in the coal mine most of the time.
I want to see this movie based on the trailers, however. |
Funny, I usually enjoy Tom's roles. He often plays alternate forms of Ethan Hunt, but that's cool because I like Ethan Hunt.

I like him in Mission Impossible okay, but it's when he tries to play the everyman character that I somehow lose interest. Again, he is a good actor, but most of his choices of late outside his franchises have been losers for me.
I don't think anyone can deny the guy has been in some amazing movies. Pretty much everything before Mission Impossible 1 was classic stuff that has deeply affected pop culture. SPOILER: show |
