UFC 169: The Ghost of Dominic Cruz

So Cruz has to pull out of his unification bout with Barao due to groin injury so Faber is now stepping up and it looks like UFC is stripping Cruz of his title. I have never liked him but man, that dude has some bad luck. With all the knee trouble, to now, after two years, have to pull out for a pulled groin is crazy.

fight card

Still a legit ppv

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 01-06-2014 11:46 PM

Damn.

Well, let's see if Faber can continue his streak of dominating non-title fights, then losing decisions when the belt is up for grabs.

Kris P Lettus 01-06-2014 11:48 PM

I'm really pulling for Faber here but Barao is a scary dude.

Kris P Lettus 01-07-2014 08:32 AM

Dana saying it's a grade 2 or 3 groin tear

:(

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-07-2014 01:06 PM

he's gonna have to think about calling it quits. Unfortunately these things happens and some guys are just cursed.

Kris P Lettus 01-07-2014 11:06 PM

2 and a half years is a LONG time for a high level athlete to be out.He is the Derrick Rose of MMA.

:(

Crimson 01-08-2014 12:13 AM

Damn..totally sucks. I'll tell you what Im gonna be pulling for Faber like crazy here. He's probably gonna lose though

why is no one pumped for this

Savio 02-02-2014 12:32 AM

Reem calling out Brock.

RP 02-02-2014 03:34 AM

What a horrible stoppage. This sport is lame anymore. These judges and refs are garbage and a ton of fights... major fights, have been highly questionable because of it. I won't even go to bdubs to watch this shit for free.

Crimson 02-02-2014 11:33 AM

I will. The Verner KO was sweet.

I'd say the judges are more of a problem than anything. Like in one if the earlier fights I wasn't paying much attention to ,but when the winner was announced Rogan questioned the result.

It was not a horrible stoppage at all. It was a horrible decision by Faber to remained turtled up while getting punched in the side of the head while Herb Dean is tell him to improve his position.

The Patrick fight on the prelims

The judging will slowly get better. It's hilarious that people like RP blame the UFC for this kind of shit but it really falls on the athletic commissions because the judges and refs are hired by them, not Zuffa or the UFC.

Kris P Lettus 02-02-2014 12:47 PM

Those Reem body shots to Mir were fucking siccccccccc

15 unanswered shots while turtled up

Nothing early or wrong about that stoppage at all

That's what I was thinking as well. Why call out a guy he already beat???? Why not call out somebody ranked higher or someone that beat you. Freaking vagina.

Kris P Lettus 02-03-2014 01:17 AM

They are talking Reem vs JDS.

Makes the most sense. I see it finishing out the top tier of the July card.

Weidman/Belfort (c)
Sonnen/Wandy
Reem/JDS

Impact! 02-03-2014 08:01 AM

 excellent card if it turns out to be true. Otherwise I would be happy with a Overeem Vs. Hunt rematch.

If they announce this card I would blow 2 quarts.

DaveBrawl 02-03-2014 10:58 AM

:'( Faber

DaveBrawl 02-03-2014 10:59 AM

I did enjoy seeing Frank Mir get knocked around though.

I'm pretty sure it will be Weidman/Belfort with Chael/Wandy as the co-main, but I would think they would add one other "co-main" type match to make it a super PPV. It's just wishful thinking that it will be two HW monsters in that third spot.

You're the only person in the world that is taking the " it wasn't a bad stoppage " side. Congratulations!

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 02-04-2014 05:31 AM

I'm with Krispy, actually. Fighters know by now that lack of movement gets fights stopped in those situations.

Impact! 02-04-2014 07:21 AM

tbh I'm with Krispy here, Faber didn't move after Herb told him to, he ate like 15 straight hammer fists, and had been dropped twice in the previous 90 seconds. It was a bit sad it ended that way, but Faber needed to do something at the time =/

Only ignorant fans are saying it was early. Dana White prolly redacted his statement after watching it again, atleast clarified that Faber, not Dean, made the mistake.

RP 02-04-2014 09:51 AM

He was punching him in his arm. He was defending himself. Dean asked if he was ok and he gave a thumbs up. It was a horrible stop.

Crimson 02-04-2014 08:45 PM

I've seen worse. A tad early in the stoppage but nothing to go crazy about.

Not intelligently, which is the sanctioned rule. I didn't like how it ended either but def blame Faber, not Dean.
