Bands You're Seeing in 2014
So far
pUI (Jan 17) Skinny Puppy (Feb 14) |
Yesterday I went to three concerts that are part of the Royal Northern College of Music's The Art of Bach Festival. Pretty good.
Next month I'm going to see a flutist (flautist). In terms of bands, I'm thinking of seeing Clutch in April, but, thus far, I'm not sure who I will be seeing this year. |
Lamb of God (Friday), Steel Panther, Killswitch, Trivium, Chimaira and DevilDriver atm
|
Seeing the Pixies in 2 weeks.
|

Lamb of God and DevilDriver are on my hit list |
not fussed either way about Trivium but they're co-headlining with Killswitch so I'll "pay attention". Saw Lamb of God a few months back, have to go again. Been meaning to see DevilDriver a while, never got round to it 'til now.
|
Shad (January 31)
Childish Gambino (March 22) |
I have tickets for "The Pixies" without Kim on Feb 6th
Also have Arcade Fire tickets for April I'm probably going to see Bass Drum of Death, Brainstems Black Angels, Russian Circles, Those Darlins, Diarrhea Planet, and Com Truise in the next month. Should be a good time for ROCK N ROLL... |
Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Newsted, Richie Sambora, Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Pennywise, Alter Bridge, Testament, Living Colour, Stone Temple Pilots, Neil Finn
|
Jason Isbell
Holly Williams Will edit as time goes by, if I remember. |
Hoping to catch a Dave Matthews show in June.
|
Dave Matthews Band are pretty bad ass live. I had the chance to see them either in 2010 or 2011.
|
Probably none.
|
The Pixies were awesome. Great show.
|
got my 3 day pass to pitchfork today. so i'll get to see...whoever ends up being announced. but i've never been to a bad day there so it's all good. never done all 3 before.
|

Once I get my time machine working I'm gonna go see The Beatles
|
I'm seeing Madball numerous times this month.
|
Maybe gonna see Broken Bells in a couple of weeks if I can get tickets. Same for Foster the People.

I always like to use Metallica as an example. Since Newstead(or even Clif Burton for old school curmudgeons) moved on Metallica's material has been awful, and that's being generous. Rob Trujillo just doesn't work seemingly. But after seeing them live, the band knows better. St. Anger, Death Magnetic, Load and most of Re-Load are ignored due to the fact that fans don't like them and they are artistically and creatively inferior. They play what the fans want and Trujillo doesn't fuck it up. For another example look at RHCP. |

Probably gonna check out Bayside again later this month.
Really want to go see AFI but I don't want to have to thru Linkin Park and/or 30 Seconds to Mars |
Failed to snag Modest Mouse tix for the umpteenth time. Fack
|
I despise most music festivals but after seeing this line-up I'm about 96% certain I'm going here in June: http://www.pnrockfest2.com/en

gonna go to this May Bank Holiday. Couldn't care less about any of the bands other than Caliban but it's a fun excuse to wander around town to a bunch of different venues all day whilst on the piss. Maybe they'll add somebody else alright between now and then, Cancer Bats got added like 3 weeks before last years, Cancer Bats so who knows |
Saw steel panther. Dunno if csl saw them in Wolverhampton but if so the band say we totally shat over you as a crowd, and I've never known a band to blow smoke up an audiences arse.
Srsly though, was fun. We went spontaneously and managed to buy the tickets that sold out the gig. I am a champ. |
Mindless Self Indulgence, tonight.
|
obviously i won't be able to catch all of these (nor would i want to) but those i definitely will depending on scheduling are in bold:
Friday Beck Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks Giorgio Moroder Sun Kil Moon Factory Floor Death Grips The Haxan Cloak Sharon Van Etten Isaiah Rashad Hundred Waters SZA Saturday Neutral Milk Hotel The Field FKA Twigs St. Vincent Danny Brown (i'll give him another shot) Kelela TuneYards The Range Pusha T The Julie Ruin Cloud Nothings Mas Ysa Wild Beasts Circulatory System Empress Of Ka Twin Peaks Sunday Kendrick Lamar Hudson Mohawke Grimes (i've already seen her a few times but i'm guessing there will be new material) DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn Slowdive Real Estate Jon Hopkins Schoolboy Q Dum Dum Girls Earl Sweatshirt Majical Cloudz Deafheaven Perfect Pussy DIIV Speedy Ortiz Mutual Benefit looks like sunday has most of what i'm familiar with/like. need to start checking out a lot of those other bands to see if they're worth catching. friday looks like a real stinker overall, unfortunately. but who knows. i'm sure i'll get caught up in it. |
I saw the Dum Dum Girls when I was in Copenhagen and I didn't really think much of them as a live band, though I think the bassist was ridiculously attractive. They are playing in Manchester in May and I have been considering whether to give them another try.
|
Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott.
