One More Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin - WrestleMania XXXI - Pick The Opponent

If you haven't already listened to it check out Austin's podcast with Cena. Cena hints heavily that Austin should consider getting ready for One More Match at Mania 31.

Let's say he bites and goes for it, who do you put him against?

Punk
The dream match that's been touted for a long time; the beer shilling redneck vs. the Straight Edge Superstar.

Taker
Austin and Undertaker have never competed at Mania, you'd think it'd be one for the ages.

Cena
The top guy of this era vs. the biggest draw in the most successful period of the company.

Lesnar
The match 13 years in the making. Back in 2002 Austin took his ball and went home rather than lose to Lesnar in a throwaway match on Raw. Could Mania be the place we finally get the match?

Any other suggestions? Another match vs. The Rock? Austin vs. HHH for the 1st time at Mania? Austin vs. McMahon?

Punks the obvious one, pretty much writes itself since Punk would be the heel, and they both like the idea of it based on the back and forth stuff on twitter over the years.

Austin putting Bryan over would be a nice moment.

Austin squashing punk in under 30 seconds would be glorious.

Its Punk. Thend.

The only answer is Punk.

Let's say Punk is done for good then, shall we?

Taking this into account, I'll say Cena. Could have Austin go on about how Cena may be "the guy" now, but he can't create the interest Austin did. Or something like that to maybe play up the top guy of each era theme.

The match would probably be a straight up brawl which would work best No Holds Barred I think. Could create some good buzz, especially if there's a lot of Austin-related content on the Network at the time.

Cena vs Austin would probably be the best option, unless someone else takes the brass ring from Cena. Closest at this point is Daniel Bryan, but he still has a ways to go.

Cena v Austin there wouldn't be anything better in my opinion.

Just to give an alternative idea, what about Bray Wyatt?

Having Austin guest host a Raw one week, and the Wyatts are really laying into someone that Austin has history with. Maybe they have added to the family and they are taking over the place, laying out McMahon...a few superstars try to help but are overwhelmed.

Austin hits the ring and helps swing the tide and Raw could end with a staredown between him and Wyatt. Simple story, Vince calling on his biggest foe at a time of greatest need. Think it could put Wyatt at the top of the heel ladder for a long time and we would get some final great Austin moments in the build up...

It'd be Punk or Cena.

See, that's what I got to thinking. It's always been a Dream match with Punk should Austin have another match in him but I think the bigger match is with Cena. It'd be the first time we had two legit top guys from two eras facing off (Rock was massive but he wasn't as big as Austin).

Austin is done, he'll never return. This thread is pathetic.

whiteyford 02-19-2014 03:05 PM

Awww well guess we better close this hypothetical thread then, the guy who put on the piss poor Punk imitation has declared it pathetic.
