Hardcore.

Any Hardcore kids at TPWW? There's a metal thread so there might as well be one for Hardcore.

Going to see Madball tonight and it should be a good time.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-27-2014 06:03 PM

My favourite Hardcore champion was Al Snow.

Bobholly138 02-27-2014 06:06 PM

Honestly I never figured out what the difference between Hardcore and punk is. I heard Black Flag and Dead Kennedys being called hardcore bands.

ron the dial 02-27-2014 11:45 PM

i used to listen to it a lot more in high school but i'll still put it on once in a while. saw kill your idols last year. they weren't very good. maybe because it was a day show.

mitchables 02-28-2014 12:43 AM

yeah, i went through a hardcore "phase" in the early 2000s, what with your norma jean and poison the well and botch and such, but i have not really maintained an interest in it since :$

Grew up a Hardcore Holly fan.

dronepool 02-28-2014 04:01 AM

I don't think I like any "hardcore" bands.

whiteyford 02-28-2014 05:36 AM

Big Minor Threat/Germs/DK fan, liked Bad Brains before they went Rasta and Henry Rollins is god.

Bad News Gertner 02-28-2014 08:11 AM

My gf is into that nonsense. Hardcore music that call it. Hardcore noise is more like it!

whiteyford 02-28-2014 08:16 AM

Dime piece though.

Blonde Moment 02-28-2014 09:53 AM

See all the bands you mention are just punk bands to me. I don't see what makes them different from other bands considered to be in the punk genre.

whiteyford 02-28-2014 11:10 AM

Hard core is basically faster and heavier, less oi.

Malfeitor 03-02-2014 08:05 PM

It all depends on the era. Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag etc. are considered the pioneers of what Hardcore was. It was basically a faster/heavier version of punk. Then you get into the New York Hardcore scene with Agnostic Front, Gorilla Biscuits, Project X, etc.

My personal favorites are Madball, Strife, Trial, One Life Crew, Madball, Earth Crisis. A lot of 90's stuff. Some people nowadays like to call bands like The Ghost Inside Hardcore which really isn't the case. More metalcore and shit.

Here's a good example of what was going down in the 90's...

Integrity is more on the metal side of things but still considered by many a Hardcore band. Saw them live a few times and they always killed it.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-03-2014 09:46 AM

Do Converge and "Calculating Infinity"-era Dillinger Escape Plan count? Both are seriously tasty.

Malfeitor 03-03-2014 04:43 PM

They are definitely within the subgenre and they are awesome. Especially Converge.

Malfeitor 03-03-2014 04:43 PM

Fuck it. This thread is now all things "-core".

ron the dial 03-03-2014 06:13 PM

i'm going to assume that doesn't mean horrorcore. i'll save that for a different thread.

ron the dial 03-03-2014 06:14 PM

but, since we're doing all -cores now, this song has been playing somewhere in the back of my head since i heard it a decade ago.

Malfeitor 03-04-2014 12:12 AM

Oh, you're busting out that Christian noise. Haha. I was never Norma Jean's biggest fan. But I remember back in the day when everyone was all about them. When it comes to the Christian shit, I prefer old all of the old bands that used to be on Facedown Records. Sinai Beach, No Innocent Victim, Figure Four, Comeback Kid.

ron the dial 03-04-2014 12:20 AM

i only listened to their first 2 albums and only liked the first. never listened to anything you just mentioned. i probably won't if it's all christian based shit. jesus and i parted ways long ago.

Who doesn't love a bit horrorcore:D

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-04-2014 09:17 AM

I discovered a new "core" the other day: Crustcore.

Sounds like Entombed-esque guitars mixed with hardcore.

I prefer The Chariot to Norma Jean.

ron the dial 03-04-2014 09:25 AM

not representative what of what they normally do, obviously, but this is the only chariot song that i really love.

I'm an Atheist, but good music is good music.

Sinai Beach and Comeback Kid are both decent. Certainly never noticed either of them being overtly Christian.

I saw CBK last year with the original singer. Was pretty rad. Sinai Beach is also playing this month. Used to see them practically every week nearly a decade ago. Debating on whether I should go or not.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-17-2014 04:40 PM

Oh, shit. Converge are playing in Manchester at the beginning of August. I think I might need to hook myself up with that tasty shizzle. I saw them at the end of 2012, with Touche Amore supporting them, it was pretty good. Though, saying that, I expected the audience to go fuckin' mental and turn in to one violent maelstrom of death, but that never happened.

Norma Jean are also playing in April/May, so I may go to that as well.

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-17-2014 04:52 PM

Converge are to be supported by:

Martyrdod
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/HvBHiCFbZME" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Okkultokrati
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GIT1o9_u7Qw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-17-2014 05:04 PM

Oh, I had forgotten about the band, The End. Their first album, Transfer Trachea Reverberations, is kind of a Calculating Infinity-era Dillinger rip-off, but I like the tracks.

The Destroyer 03-17-2014 06:37 PM

I prefer what they evolved into on their next album, personally. Still kinda generic, but I found it more interesting.
