WWE Network / PPV Quality

As Wrestlemania 30 hype begins this week all over the WWE Network - I really started thinking about the current state of the the WWE and its future quality of programming.

My main concern is this: What is WWE's incentive to produce quality work?

I believe that it is universally agreed, that since the fall of WCW and ECW, the poduct that WWE is putting out is subpar to the quality of work they did when they had actual competition (Sorry TNA is a glorified independant).

That being said, what is their incentive to put on top quality "PPV's" or whatever they will be called since they are now free on WWE Network?

I understand that they still want to keep their subscribers and attract new ones, but couldnt the same be said for their RAW and Smackdown shows, which have clearly falling off, PG or no PG.

I am I correct with my concern here? Wanted to hear what others are thinking.

at first I was just going to grammar Nazi your post because you can't spell and have some problem with the English language. Then I thought, be nice maybe he is in the foreign legion.

Then I read your handle and realized you are likely just a whigga and your thread doesn't deserve a response and in about 2 posts wwf fan or shisen will tell you what kind of thread this is officially

This is a fine thread by J Dogg Funk and it's not riddled with the grammar mistakes you're making it out to be riddled with. In fact, your lack of quotations when quoting what you thought is a more glaring grammar mistake than any he made. Seriously. Needlessly dickish. No idea what this post is all about. This is a bad post. With Shisen's blessing, I'd like to fix it by turning it into an OFFICAL Tatanka post.

Better. Now back on topic...

Yes, I do believe their incentive to put out quality PPVs will suffer now that they won't rely so much on people paying $50 specifically to see that one event.

Plus I don't think people will cancel their subscriptions because of subpar events. I think they'd just be less inclined to watch them and stick to the other Network stuff.

Though that might be an eye opener for WWE if they see those numbers drop (I'm assuming they track how many people are watching what programs).

They just might cancel because WrestleMania season is over. They need to put on a great show to keep subscribers hooked. Network is a great idea to try to bring back the people who left after the Attitude Era died off but they are a pretty fickle bunch.

Considering the WWE has struggled lots of times to produce good ppvs in a row, doubt that's suddenly going to change for good or bad because of the Network.

Their bigger incentive is making sure the Network itself stays fresh for as long as possible with content to maintain and grow that userbase.

WWE Network said Monday that it has 667,287 paying subscribers since bowing in February, and predicts it will reach its goal of 1 million users by the end of the year.

teamXtremist 04-07-2014 06:51 PM

Great ppv got my money's worth with wwe network last night

Corndad 04-07-2014 06:57 PM

WWE Network lagged Preshow on XBOX but switched to Laptop and it was flawless. High hopes for the Network now.

teamXtremist 04-07-2014 07:00 PM

My 360 wifi was terrible tried Ethernet until there was lag

My ipad was solid though no freezes or lags just a few pauses here and there

Fignuts 04-07-2014 07:00 PM

Yeah, xbox 360 sucks so far for streaming the network. PS3 was streaming Mania silky smooth all night.

Xbox One seems to stream stuff a lot better than the 360, so hopefully they add the Network app soon. Still bullshit that it's not on there already.

dronepool 04-07-2014 07:13 PM

It worked good on the PS4, besides a few 2 second stutters.

Razzamajazz 04-07-2014 07:27 PM

WWE stock was down about 20% this morning. The network is being blamed

Jaded-Dragon 04-10-2014 05:03 PM

Same experience here, 360 was laggy as all hell and I switched to PS3 and had a much smoother stream.

bigpoppapump 04-10-2014 05:18 PM

Absolutely ZERO problems since the network started, through my PC.

screech 04-11-2014 10:24 AM

Had a lot of stuttering on PS3, but overall I'm happy with my investment.
