What If It Was a Work?
NO THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT MONTREAL. There is to be no discussion of that unpleasantness here. In fact, if anyone so much as mentions Montreal or screwjobs here I will ban the fuck out of you. YOU DON'T KNOW THAT I CAN'T DO THAT.*
I was just reading the Vince Russo/Jim Cornette thing on the news page and I was given to wonder: What if the whole Russo/Cornette feud has been a work from day one? In fact, what if Cornette's entire "I'M MAD AS HELL AND I WILL TELL ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN TO ME RANT ABOUT IT" persona has been an act since day one and he's just been living his gimmick? Cornette and I have a lot of major disagreements when it comes to lots of things but I love listening to him and would be terribly upset if I learned his rage was inauthentic. Anyways, leaving aside the obvious things that were definitely shoots (OR I WILL BAN YOU SO HARD YOUR KIDS WON'T BE ABLE TO JOIN THE SITE EVER AT ALL*) what "real life" wrestling things do you ever wonder might be part of the absurdist theater that is wrestling? *Disclaimer: Theo Dious does not have the power to ban posters on TPWW. --His legal counsel |
I think Jim Cornette had a similar feud on a podcast with Kenny Bolin. They would trash each other on each other's podcast just to have a big podcast with both of them. Not sure if it was a work. It was on Tommy Fierro's Whose Slamming Who podcasts that are now defunct.
If it was a work, then it was a huge waste of time, because I don't think anyone actually cares how they feel about one another
Cornette does play up his whole "I hate the current product and these certain people" gimmick. In the past decade, he has gotten several DVDs, interviews, reunion shows, speaking tours, and a podcast out of it. He does feel that way I think, but not to the stroke inducing levels he portrays.
Would be pretty dumb if the whole thing ended up being just two guys pretending to be grumpy with each other.
Works are supposed to make money in the end. How would this make them money?
They get to make more shoot videos which sell big.
Also it can't be denied that the whole incident where TNA sent Cornette a letter threatening legal action after he verbally masturbated to the idea of Russo being killed definitely got TNA more attention than any of their main events typically do.

Bolin was just on Cornette's podcast. Complete work.
Montreal all was a big work. Everyone benefitted.
Didn't he call Kenny Bolin a child molester or something?
What happened in Montreal? So confused.

That is a travesty. I bet cesaro's wallet went missing too.

It was later anonymously returned sans money and credit cards.

That sounds about right. KFC coupon was stolen too.
