I wasn't ready for this.

WWE announced the release of Alberto Del Rio due to unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee.

Rammsteinmad 08-07-2014 06:43 PM

Oh cool. I can't wait for all the reports to come out on what he did.

And then for him to be "re-signed" a week or two later.

Juan 08-07-2014 06:43 PM

:(:(:(:(:(:'(:'(:'(:'(:'(:o

Fignuts 08-07-2014 06:45 PM

Could never get into him.

He was by no means bad, either in the ring or on the mic, but he didn't stand out to me either. He was just there.

dronepool 08-07-2014 06:47 PM

Cool , he was not a big deal/that interesting.

road doggy dogg 08-07-2014 06:48 PM

whoa

Emperor Smeat 08-07-2014 06:49 PM

Wow.

Fignuts 08-07-2014 06:50 PM

Hope he kicked Adam Rose in the balls or something. Hate that guy.

I can see that now... "King! He just got Del Rio'd!!"

KaosDarksol 08-07-2014 07:16 PM

Wonder what happened. We won't really be missing much though.

Had to be something really serious considering he didn't get the "future endeavors" stuff the WWE does for almost everyone.

Nowhere Man 08-07-2014 07:35 PM

But now who is going to wrestle Dolph Ziggler on every single show for no reason?

Shisen Kopf 08-07-2014 07:45 PM

Getting released was his destiny.

erickman 08-07-2014 07:45 PM

wasnt he retiring this summer anyway, wonder whos ass he kicked, wonder if he will show up in japan for bound for glory.

Lock Jaw 08-07-2014 07:48 PM

Damn, that sucks.

Was just thinking on Monday after his match with Ambrose how much I love watching the guy's matches... and made a little wish that they would do something to "fix" him and make him a big player again...

DaveBrawl 08-07-2014 07:53 PM

Well they fixed him. Way to go Lock Jaw.

el bobbo 08-07-2014 07:56 PM

This is a little shocking, but I do not even care. He always seemed to take up a spot that another, more interesting member of the roster could have occupied and succeeded at. He was a great worker, but really bland and vanilla, which was probably a big fault of the writers and not really his own.

Vastardikai 08-07-2014 08:05 PM

He was truly a victim of the title unification.

#1-norm-fan 08-07-2014 08:09 PM

He was a victim of WWE booking not knowing how to keep more than 2 guys interesting at the same time. He had the rasslin' skill, the look, the charisma... With some writers who could consistently book him in something compelling he could have been a big deal.

GD 08-07-2014 08:12 PM

Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez have arrived in the Impact Zone.

Black Widow 08-07-2014 08:18 PM

Iv'e heard about many wrestlers having altercations in the back.

I wonder if maybe it was one of the divas?

Vastardikai 08-07-2014 08:21 PM

I'm thinking maybe Kevin Dunn. Because the wrestlers and the divas aren't employees.

Cool King 08-07-2014 08:25 PM

Well, I wasn't expecting this, but then again, who was?

As Smelly Meatball pointed out, it must have been something pretty serious, as he didn't get wished the best in his future endeavours, like the WWE usually does when they release someone.

From what I've read, Del Rio is a bit of a dick in real life/has a short fuse, so I'm guessing he must have gotten into a fight/argument with someone who is pretty important in the company, and this is his punishment.

screech 08-07-2014 08:28 PM

Dammit :(

Big Del Rio fan. Never saw a bad match from him. Though I wish he would have gone back to flaunting his wealth and piss, I always enjoyed seeing him. Never tuned him out like I do with Adam Rose or Bo Dallas.

He showed the ability to be an awesome cocky face in his feud with Big Show. He played off a comedic love/hate relationship with Ricardo perfectly as a face. After that it was all downhill though.

VSG 08-07-2014 08:34 PM

Wow I wonder what he did!

The fact that Del Rio is technically a four-time world champion and a Royal Rumble winner, yet has "been there" for the last year pretty much demonstrates WWE's knack of having too many big names doing nothing.

Lock Jaw 08-07-2014 08:42 PM

I think I am one of the only people who greatly enjoyed Alberto Del Rio as a face.

Lock Jaw 08-07-2014 08:43 PM

Also, I was the first to make Alberto Del Rio a Heavyweight Champion in the chronicles of ARMCHAIR WARFARE.

Mercenary 08-07-2014 08:45 PM

We noted before that WWE did not use Alberto Del Rio's real name when announcing his release from the company this evening. It's also interesting that they did not wish him the best in his future endeavors.

For what it's worth, Rob Feinstein of RF Video wrote on his Facebook that Del Rio was involved in a backstage incident at the recent WWE TV tapings. RF claimed that Del Rio had words with an employee who works for WWE's social media department and allegedly slapped him. This should be taken as strictly rumor for now.

We've noted how Del Rio has expressed interest in leaving WWE and returning to Mexico once his deal expired this year.

Vastardikai 08-07-2014 08:48 PM

so he pulled a Cornette?

Don't be a lemon, BE A ROSE BUD!

Anywho, I'm not sad, but I am quite shocked at this. Del Rio wasn't shit... he was just not at a main event level. If they would have had him go after the IC/US strap, I could get behind that. For now, we shall call him by his proper Lucha name.

Destello en la Cazuela

Corndad 08-07-2014 09:16 PM

Honestly. He bored me. Curious to see what happened to cause his firing.

The one memory I actually enjoyed of him was life. Christmas Eve episode where he ran over Santa Claus with his car starting one of the funniest chants I've ever heard "You killed Santa.... You killed Santa" LOL then he proceeded to have a street fight with Cena that was a lot more entertaining then I expected. This was the kick off to his face turn which may have lead to his downfall from relevancy.

slik 08-07-2014 09:17 PM

Surprising, but nothing of value of lost.

slik 08-07-2014 09:20 PM

Since there is no one for Sheamus to wrestle 800 times on television now, might as well get rid of him too.

#1-norm-fan 08-07-2014 09:21 PM

I think we can safely say now that WWE's butchering of ADR is completely and his initial push didn't mean anything... Santino should have won that Rumble, dammit.
