Do you wanna see another "Giant" in the WWE?
I have heard that in developmental, there is a former strongman competitor who is like 6 ft 7 and nearly 400 lbs. Does the idea of a new huge wrestler appeal to you anymore? Even big guys in NXT right now like Big Cass or Baron Corbin are tall but not that "spectacle" like Andre or the Big Show. Do you think the "novelty" of a gigantic wrestler has worn off, or do you still want to see Giants in the WWE once he current ones retire?

If the person has the Charisma of Big Show, then Yes.
If it's another Khali, as in funny in that really cheesy way, and immobile, then no. |
We have THE RYBACK and that's all we need.
|
Nah we've already had The Big Show. Nobody else could match what he brought to the game earlier with Dropkicks and stuff. I think anybody else would be seen as a ripoff.
I think we need to have more people like the Ryback so that becomes the New Normal for "Big Guys." He calls himself the Big Guy but he's not a giant per say. Maybe Ryback but more athletic. Or Rollermacka because you seem to be very athletic for the 'Giant' type. |
is Rollermacka about to debut?
|
There will always be room for giants in wrestling. As long as they don't ruin the intimidation factor by being almost completely immobile like Khali, then they can always draw if booked right.

I'm down for anyone that can play their role effectively and can connect with the audience in whatever way benefits the product. So yes, as long as all my criteria is met.
|
Don't really care although agree about it being good if the next "Giant" is more on the athletic or charismatic side than someone who is just big and nothing else as the reason for their push.
|
Who would win? The big show, the big guy, or big red?
|
In all honesty I feel Big Show hasn't been "interesting" for quite some time. What number heel turn is it now? The only real highlight in recent years was when him and henry broke the ring.
But in all honesty how far can you take a big guy in terms of stories? The biggest exceptions were Nash (with the NWO), Taker (obvious reasons and he is kind of a big guy) and Kane (though last few years even his character has waned). Khali had run his course and could barely walk. Harper and Rowan are big guys and interesting to see how that story can develop. Big Show's only really got a couple of years left in him? |

As far as Show goes, I'm just talking realistically. He's in his 40s and has been wrestling for around 20 years, I don't see him sticking around for another 10 years (and Kane's been doing it longer than that) |

Like show Kane has only realistically got a couple of years left in him wrestling wise. |
They'd go the usual route they do with all really big guys; booked as strong, fearsome heels or strong, fun-loving babyfaces, and after the 3rd switch between these poles I'd have lost interest (see Mark Henry, Big Show, THE DEMON Kane).

Yes of course. You need variety in wrestling.

Absolutely would love to see another giant. I would like to see the "next giant" to be properly booked and not Big Show booked (at least in recent years). Loved it when show came back and just started punching people in the face for his finisher. Feel like a big guy should be booked as nearly unstoppable or at least display brute power in some form.
Paul Titan is the TITAN TOWER or gtfo. |

It's not that the "novelty" of a giant has worn off- its the oversaturation of "big men" has lessened the effect.
The problem of the WWE's fascination with guys who "look the part" is that "big man" is the new normal. Most of the knocks on guys like Daniel Bryan or CM Punk is that, in stature, they are on the lower end of the "standard" spectrum (but let's be real here, so are Michaels and Jericho... sometimes it's just fun to hate because). One of the reasons (and I'm NOT saying the only reason, so kill that noise in advance) Andre was so much "larger than life" was that he was literally so much larger in every way than pretty much everyone else. Imagine as if it were chronologically possible that Andre were consistently flanked by Undertaker, Earthquake, Yokozuna, Nash, Big Show and even the jokes that are El Gigante and Khali. Yes, he was still bigger, and yes, he had that intangable, trancendent charisma that would have taken him far had he not been so massive, but some of that mystique goes away when there is a pool of semi comparable peers. Hell, look at Rusev. Sure, I'm no super fan of the Super Athlete, but by average guy standards, he's pretty fucking big, and by all rights, should look pretty damn intimidating. In WWE, though, he looks more like Taz taking on a room full of guys the size of Kane. We're supposed to buy into the fact that he looks monsterous, but he comes off as no more monsterous than Big E, or Cesaro, or (truthfully) Henning*, or Henry, or Show, or how they're trying to make Reigns (he's really not much bigger than the other two former Shield guys), or Sheamus, or Ryback, or Harper, or Rowan, or Lesnar, or... There's just too many other guys for him to just stand out as "holy shit, lookit him!" and makes him seem more "meh". That is the initial trap that any giant moving foward would have to contend with. |

There's always room for giants in wrestling but I don't expect to ever see the next Undertaker
|
So the guy I made this topic on debuted on RAW..... what are you guys' thoughts?
|
Hope he gives Big Show a vacation.
|
Yes, but only if it's an acromegaly giant. Also, I hope they would call him Capt. Big Un.
|
I really don't, but they'll keep bringing in "big man" types regardless of the opinions of fans, because who doesn't want to have someone to cheer or boo just because they look like they belong in a circus freakshow?
Therefore, I voted "MEH". Unless they ever bring in Awesome Kong/Kharma again since they really haven't done the huge and powerful thing with any divas I can recall and it might make for a nice novelty for a few years, I couldn't care less. |

Doesn't matter to me as long as the talent is there. If we get the 1999 version of Big Show, Kane, or Undertaker, then I'm all in. Even a guy that is as talented as Rikishi is ok in my books. It's just when you see talentless faggots like Viktor Kozlov and Great Kali that I start "losing my smile" so to speak. |
