Underrated finishers.
Basically, mention your favorite finishers that aren't as heralded as other match enders, but are definitely devastating.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EcDrM9lUWUc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Billy Robinson used the Backdrop Backbreaker as his finisher in the US especially, and holy hell does it look vicious. And you really can't say that about many of the variations. And what finishers do you like that are unheralded? |
Barry Darsow's "Barely Legal"
|
Michinoku Driver II. Such a good move for a tiny little jap
|
It's nothing massively devastating, but I've always liked the Widowmaker that Sean O'Haire use to do.
Random fact: I stole this finisher for myself, but named it the "Five Mile Dropout". A Shark Attack 3 reference. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wBMPFWkKpkM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
The Dominator

The Cobra it's a jab to your throat ffs

Widow's Peak. Only not taken seriously because it was done by a woman.

Nope, just a wrist lock. A very brutal wrist lock, but a wrist lock nonetheless. And it DEFINITELY fits the bill. |
Texas Cloverleaf.

And top rope flying elbow drops used to end matches. Now, even the guys who used to end matches with them (like Shawn) don't even anymore. |
The Canadian Destroyer by Petey Williams

Rings of Saturn and Tequila Sunrise.

<font color=goldenrod>Crack 'Em in the Mouth (Deuce 'n Domino's finisher) was pretty awesome and one of the many things I liked about that team.
With the opponent in a seated position, Domino holds the opponent's head in place while Deuce gets some momentum, goes off the ropes, and then runs at the guy full force with a boot to the mouth. It was simple but looked devastating.</font> |
MNM's Snapshot. Big name of double team moves

Crack 'Em in the Mouth could be used by Blake & Murphy, but I suppose they've got the running suplex/Frog Splash combo. |

On the topic of great submission holds, I really liked Tyson's Dungeon Lock. He's now over with the Sharpshooter as a finisher, so I can understand why they haven't had him bring it out, but it was fucking great. |
the 619 just kidding

Bronson had a pretty nasty looking combination Figure Four and Heel Hook.

Crooked Headscissors.

Pretty obscure, but that finisher of Luther Reigns was pretty fuckin' wicked, IMO.
Also Matt Morgan's Hellevator. |
I always felt like the Rock Bottom was kinda underrated. Especially in recent years it seems like it's kinda got shit on by some folks.
Not the most impressive move ever by any means but Rock's showmanship really helped make it work. And the guys he worked with usually sell it well helping to make it work. Sure it's just a fall forward lifting side slam but by the time Rock set it up and hit someone with it, the crowd usually was ready to explode. |

I dont remember HBk using the Elbow drop until 95/96. Definitely not until 94 at the earliest when Macho Man left.
Superkick started as a normal move he did at the break up but wasnt his finisher for a few years. |
In fact IIRC Sweet Chin music wasnt his finisher until he started his program with Diesel going into WM 11 - because no one can sup-lex big sexy
|
Gory Bomb
|
Tiger Bomb and variations of said tiger.

The Curb Stomp!
Honestly, it's a move that can be hit on any opponent, looks great (except for when Cena takes it), it's simple but effective, and would put you down in a real fight. I'd like to see Seth hit it in a few different ways (should have done a spot where he leaped off Cena's back to hit it on Brock in their Triple Threat, for example. Perfect finisher. |
I always liked a good ole fashioned Brainbuster.
