Anyone here a fan of the great 64 bit machine that was the N64?

What is this, 2006?

Well recently rediscovered the system as I'm looking at tracking down one of the ill-fated 64DD add ons. Some good times though missed out on decent third party games and truly decent beat-em ups, maybe due to the limitations of the cartridge based system.

The wrestling games on the system were amongst the best on any console even when compared to games today. WWF No Mercy really pushed that machine to the limit with the only thing lacking was commentary.

I preferred no commentary re: No Mercy. Mainly because I can't help but think it'd have been like Warzone or Attitude commentary, which I thought was awful.

It wasn't great yes and commentary was a necessity to make No Mercy excellent. It'd have simply been the icing on the cake.

Had the DD taken off then perhaps No Mercy on that would have been the complete package.

You'll get no argument from me on that. I was just pointing out that it seems a little bit of a random thread topic considering this is 2015, that's all.

Went to see The Wrestler the day it came out in theaters...not the best acting by anyone who isn't Mickey Rourke, but man was his character s gimmick as a wrestler fun to watch. #Ram_Jam

He was good. The rest was a bit pants and depressing to watch.

Did want to see him actually have that heart attack at the end that would have been awesome.

64 is awesome, Game Company called "Jay Street Games" are total dickheads though and charge near full price for non-sports games $40 and give you like 4 dollars for a trade in.

Traded in Diddy Kong racing and the gave me 4 dollars went in 3 days later and they were selling it for 20.

I remember one time I went to a used games store and they would only give me store credit for trade-ins!!! Those crooks!!!

Store credit would have been fine, This place sucks cock though. Used to be another store here, They would take your trade in and do a mark up of about 100%-150% not 500%.

I still have mine, though I can't remember the last time I played it. Goldeneye, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time = Awesomeness.

Most of the best N64 games (first-party titles anyway) are available on the DS/3DS now too, so there's that

Mischief Makers was always one of my favorites, that no one else ever played. Super fucking good. It's made by Treasure, so all the shit onscreen is fucking bananas at all times.

Not really. The analog sticks on the controllers break to easy. No more than 8 or so games I would play on it. And most of the ones I would play are only good for multiplayer.

The last Nintendo console I liked was the NES.

YES...used to kill WrestleMania 2000, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark...I was a short distance away from being ranked "Perfect" and needed something like 100 miles in the game to get it, and lost my N64 somewhere in a move....so I'll forever be stuck in the rank of "Near Perfect" :'(

the hell were you doing to your controllers? Mine lasted years without any problems.

Honorable mentions: Banjo Tooie, ISS 98, ISS 64, WWF No Mercy, DK 64, Sin and Punishment, Turok 1, Turok 2, Quake 2, Ridge Racer 64, Resident Evil 2, World Rally Championship, Beetle Adventure Racing, WCW/NWO Revenge, 1080 Snowboarding, Pilot Wings 64, Wave Race 64, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Party 1, 2, 3, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Animal Forest and if you managed to play them on the 64DD Doshin the Giant and F Zero X Expansion Kit (not a game as such but really demonstrated the capabilities of the 64DD and I feel would have helped Nintendo shift more consoles and garner more 3rd party support had theyy got their act together and got it released sooner and outside of Japan).

I would be tempted to put Sin and Punishment, RR 64 and Resident Evil 2 in the top 10 however the former was a Japan only release and hence many people may well have not played it.

RR 64 although great never seemed to be highly regarded as the PS1 versions. Resident Evil 2 on the N64 was not only the best version of Resi 2 but imo the best Resident Evil game to date. But it wasn't a console exclusive as such.

Sold my Playstation, solely to get N64 along with WCW/nWo Revenge.

I do, I gave it an honorable mention. But did I genuinely believe it was one of the best ten on the N64? Probably not.

Then again I'm wondering whether to drop Conker's Bad Fur Day which in hindsight I feel was incredibly overrated and not quite as "mature" as people made it out to be.

No Mercy pushed the 64 to the limit and came out at the right, WWE/WWF was about to finally win the Monday Night WAR(s), Austin/Rock rivalry was at its peak and we were months away from what was imo the best WM ad best PPV I ever had the pleasure of watching; Wrestle Mania 17.

It was great game that invokes great memories not just of the console but that period of my life as a wrestling fan.

my favourite taunt in No Mercy for create a character was the slap on the ass on the turnbuckle.

I don't think they sold fans to cool off the N64. So no, the answer is there are no N64 fans.

Mario Kart was better.

I hated going backstage in no mercy and having the CPU try to throw you right back out to the ring.

DKR was objectively a better game IMO

(dumb to give an opinion and say it's "objectively" better, but whatever... better game but MK more fun bc more people play it)

DKR was superior in every regard, just not as popular.

Many things DKR did FIRST, Mario Kart now does (flying and the such).
