Would TNA be more popular if...
A major WWE star went over to them like Cena or Bryan?
I don't see them overtaking WWE but if the above happened it would certainly increase viewership but TNA are more likely to go bankrupt and fold before that happens. |
TNA has had countless big names on their roster over the years. Wrestling is a niche now more than ever, so the product has to be consistently good to grow. They haven't done that and alienated hardcore fans who won't return to the product. WWE can afford to make mistakes that TNA can't.
|
If Bryan was to leave WWE I believe he would go back to ROH berore he would go to TNA. Cena is a lifer he won't go to TNA. Another thing is TNA can't afford Cena unless the Carters dish out some of that money.

Pretty much what James Steele said. I mean Cena might bump ratings up a little bit but he'd be the only one that'd even a sliver of a shot and even then I doubt it'd have any effect especially now that they're on an obscure network that almost no one gets.
|
I don't know, was just going along with the thread.

I just wonder if in theory Cena going to TNA would have the effect that Hogan had when he went to WCW. If there's going to be a shift towards younger talent in the WWE like Wyatt, Rollins, Ambrose, Reigns etc (and rightly so), Cena may not necessarily be in the title picture too often. He will get his 16th and 17th title reign I believe in order to usurp Flair but I don't see him headlining further in say 5 years time.
Hogan was still sort of at his peak when he went to WCW If Bryan were unhappy TNA is an option where he almost certainly be thrust into the main event picture. Cena has trademarks to his name (obviously) and his theme song right? It would never happen but would be nice to see WWE having some sort of healthy competition or a viable alternative. ATM TNA and ROH are just schedule fillers. |
If Kurt Angle didn't help them, no one will.
Except The Rock. If they could lock down The Rock they would be on top of the world! :shifty: |
Imagine if Paul Heyman swaggered out on TNA Impact to introduce BRRRROCK LLLESSSNAR who just wants nothing more but to complete his collection of accolades.
|
Most people who watch wwe, ie casual and kids, would never even know if any of them ended up in TNA anyways. So no, it hasn't worked and it won't work.

100% this. |
I think most of us can agree that TNA lost their way when the started to mirror the WWE. They should have done what they have always done back in the day to be exciting yet different.
|
It's kinda what JamesSteele said. They can sign the top 6 WWE talents tomorrow but as a second tier promotion in a dying medium it won't really matter. Why have hamburger when you can have steak? Even if that hamburger is seasoned and has a fancy bun and comes with sweet potato fries, steak will always win out :fu:

If the likes of Hogan, Sting, Flair, Foley and even Bubba Ray Dudley would prefer part-time/sporadic/one-off/promo appearances in the WWE than full time roles in spotlight at TNA, it says a lot about the company. But if Carter were to sell there's more of a chance of McMahon buying TNA out rather than somebody else wanting to come in and revamp it completely. |
Why would Vince buy TNA? Do you know how much they have to do to even catch WWE. TNA doesn't have enough star power or brand recognition in the States to be THAT relevant enough for Vince to worry about them.
TNA needs to go the Paul Heyman route highlight the positives and hide the negatives. Highlight the fact that you have the X division, better tag teams, and better knockout matches, and better freedom to do what you want to do. Minimize the fact that you can't fill large arenas, have PPVs, etc. |
At this point, a Beautiful People Reunion/Lesbian Orgy couldn't help them.
|
It doesn't matter who is with TNA, the name TNA means absolutely nothing. The people who watch TNA are either DIE HARD wrestling fans, and I get that, or some of the dumbest people in the country. Trust me, I know some guys who are TNA fans and they are really fucking stupid. Like beyond their control, unfortunate cards dealt at birth stupid.

Likely would be the same when they got Angle or Hogan where they'd get a nice short term boost but find a way to undo it all within weeks. With Angle it was more due to booking while with Hogan it was booking and money problems.

TNA turning Derrick Bateman into EC3 is an example of the kind of moves they'd have to make to get guys from WWE. Same to a lesser extent turning Kenneth Cameron into Bram and getting underused guys of WWE main roster like Drew McIntyre and Brodus (although I hate him)
|
TNA does a good job of getting young talent over and taking former WWE guys like Anderson and Bully Ray to new highs. ECIII is one of my favorite chacters right now, WWE really missed out on that guy. Feel like TNA salivates at the mouth every time WWE releases someone.

Taking Mr. Anderson to "a new high" might be a bit of a stretch....
|
He won the Heavyweight title that was a new high.
|
He got to work with RVD, that was a new kind of high.
|
He stopped smoking cigarettes in TNA to.
|
Anderson was pretty botched by TNA, to be honest. They randomly slapped the World Title on him twice, but he was just sort of there. The only guy they really made any better was Derrick Bateman. A case could be made for Christian Cage too.
James Steele summed it up pretty correctly. TNA has burnt people too many times. To get back on track, it needs to become a consistently good product. I don't think the people involved in that promotion have the required dedication to consistency though. |
If they pull any workers for the WWE. The best thing TNA can do is let them develop into the wrestler that the WWE didn't. After being released they should already have something to prove. Give them a good storyline, a hot angle, and an opportunity to put on a great show. And they should do fine.
It would also benefit with having them tape several episodes in one sitting that will allow them to do more spots. Because they will have more time to heal up real good. |

Their Knockout division makes me cry they had a female roster made of pure badass and they didn't even seem to know just how good the knockouts were they made the divas look like garbage and they actually main evented shows. Only a complete idiot could fail to see and capitalize on that.
They could build it back up I guess but nobody gets that station and I'm pretty sure the ship has sailed. I really question if Dixieland knows what she's doing most of the time. |
The Knockout Division's depletion came around the same time that Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan signed with the company, didn't it? They fired Kong because she slapped up Bubba the Love Sponge.
|
In theory, if it were to happen, Cena would make TNA relevant. No one else would.
|
I dunno. I feel like The Rock could.
|
And Randy Orton. When he got his second wellness strike, I fantasized about Orton saying "Fuck this," leaving and becoming a bad-ass that hops the rail at the Impact Zone and RKOs a whole bunch of people with Bautista by his side.
|
It was around the same time Rey Mysterio got his second strike and I thought he could make an impact there too. Pun intended. Mysterio wouldn't move the meter like Orton or Bautista, don't get me wrong -- but I think he'd generate a certain amount of interest within the wrestling fanbase.
Angle vs. Mysterio was always a great match-up. |

Though Rock wouldn't stick around so I don't even know if that would do much. |

What would you expect from some low life cousin fucker whose real name is Clem? |

Despite the title, I think Cena is unlikely to go their either given that he will always be the "top guy" in WWE even if he isn't involved in the WWE title/main event picture. If anything the Cena v Rusev match is receiving more hype than Reigns v Lesnar. Probably because for the latter given that there is a high possibility this could be Lesnar's final match in the WWE for some time, he may well be dropping the belt to Reigns. |
