The first disc is all roth era, the good shit, 2nd disc is all spammy, the shit shit.

I hate to say it, but I think Sammy got the short end of the stick. He's not as charismatic as David Lee Roth, but he's a better singer. He doesn't do karate kicks, but he's a good songwriter. Fact is, ANYONE who replaced DLR would have been shafted. You could have replaced him with Ozzy ****ing Osbourne and people would have bitched, saying he wasn't good enough.

Also, as far as the music, you also have to take into account the maturity of the band: Eddie and the boys were older than they were when they first hit the scene with DLR. It's hard to sing about "driving fast cars, drinking JD, and **** girls," when much of that isn't even you anymore. Sure, it could be done, but it would lack the heart, the soul. It would be catering to what people WANT them to be, and that wouldn't be right.

Both eras have their merits:

David Lee Roth represented this youthful enthusiasm that the band showed at this time.

Sammy Hagar represented the more mature aspects

One thing I think we can ALL agree with, however, is that Gary Cherone sucked ASS!

To me, It almost feels like saying that Chris Cornell sucks because he's playing with 75% of Rage against the Machine, but his name isn't Zack De La Rocha. (It's a totally different thing, I understand, but it is a similar concept)

for as long as those guys have been around, i can't beleive they didn't allready have a greatest hits package. anyways it's smart having both singers represented, it'll appeal to more people and anyone who is fans of either of them.

But this set is a lot better with some songs I thought should've been on the other CD...</i></font>

yeah, they did a best of with 2 new roth songs a while back. It's pretty good but if you already have the albums probably not worth parting with your money, just download the other two tracks.

I wonder if the live songs on this new album are sammy or dave era.

Also, to the guy who said sammy is a good songwriter... hahaha. I might give you the better singer but his lyrics are awful.

I already have their greatest hits vol. 1, why didn't they just make a vol. 2 instead of a new thing altogether?

Then again I don't care because I'm not gonna buy it.
