Favourite wrestler from each decade
Many of us have been watching wrestling since we were little guys. That being said, who was your fav wrestler from each decade.
60's: Bruno Sammartino. It's incredible how adored he was in the territory. Not the most exciting, but definitely a case where the crowd makes the match. 70's: Dick Murdoch. Fuck I love me some Dick Murdoch. His facial expressions were just the greatest. He'd sell a single punch for minutes on end and it was entertaining as hell. 80's: Hogan. I started watching in 85 and Hogan was my idol. 90's Hogan. He was such an awesome heel. Tommy Dreamer was a close second. 2000'S JBL. Bradshaw is my favourite wrestler of all time and fuck did I love ever the JBL charatcer. 2010's: Ryback. Because he's fucking Ryback. Slater is a close second. |

90s: Goldberg. I only started watching wrestling with WCW in April 1998, so Goldberg became my favorite straight away and it remained that way through WCW's closure.
00s: Chris Jericho. I HATED him in WCW when I first started watching...but by the early 2000s I was aware of how wrestling works and I was able to appreciate he was just very good at his job. Loved his matches and his promo work, seeing him go in a different direction in 2008 with his serious heel run was cool too. 10s: Daniel Bryan. Was always a fan of Bryan from watching his stuff in RoH, so I naturally wanted to see him do well when he debuted with the main roster in 2010. Team Hell No's segments might have been my favorite segments of this decade. Oh, and WrestleMania 30 obv. |

123 Kid was my favorite when I was a kid. Kurt Angle is the best ever period. Who played a better character than Kurt? Ryback is a fucking beast. |
80's - Hulk Hogan
90's - "Stone Cold" Steve Austin 00's - Chris Jericho 10's - CM Punk We have another five year of the 10's though, so my choice for that could (and probably will) change. |
80's -Savage, very young so this is tinted by 90's years looking back, but he was an incredible athlete and stood out, especially at the top of the card.
90's - Bret Hart, loved his look, attire, moveset, but most of all, loved the story's he told in matches. Really underrated heel turn too, was great stuff. 2000's - HBK, loved him and harts feud and genuinely saw them as the 2 best who had battled it out for the title of best in the world. Hart just edged it, but when HBK came back, he surpassed him and reminded me of when I was a mega fan. GOAT for me. 10's - Lesnar, when he is involved it all seems so much more special. His matches seem like a big deal and he reminds me of a time when I enjoyed wrestling more. Too many stop starts with other guys to really have them stand out |
70's- The Destroyer- So good. Some of the best psychology you will ever see in the ring.
80's- Hogan- I was born in 82, so duh, of course it's gonna be Hogan for the 80's. 90's- Hayabusa- I had seen a bit of Japanese wrestling here and there, but Hayabusa is what got me really interested, and opened up the floodgates. 00's- Angle- Incredibly entertaining on the mic, and he could have a 5 star match with broom stick. 10's- Nakamura- In the far more stoic world of japanese wrestling, he manages to have more charisma than most of the wwe roster combined. And his matches are always 5 star classics. Very hard to find a unique character in this day and age where almost everything has been done and rehashed three times over, but Nakamura is something we really haven't seen before. |
80's - Hulk Hogan
90's - Shawn Michaels 00's - Shawn Michaels 10's - Ryback |
80's Hulk Hogan
90's Steve Austin 00's Kurt Angle 10's Daniel Bryan |

Actually, 2010s is a tie between THE RYBACK and Owen White.

But in all serious, disregarding booking and judging by just how much I'd enjoy them if they were being used properly, Johnny Curtis is neck-and-neck with Ryback. Think I might even put him #1.

90's - Shawn Michaels - Austin - Rock 00's - Shawn Michaels - Undertaker - Angle 10's - John Cena - Bryan - Lesnar |
80's: Hogan - no doubt the man brought wrestling to wider audience.. being a young kid thought he was the man
90's Sting - Staying up late just to watch Sting come from the rafters/under the ring loved him then love still today 2000'S - HBK/Taker - don't need to crap on about these two 2010's: CM Punk was right up there.... Really enjoying Seth Rollins work in ring atm (outside not so much) |
