Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Is Dead

:wavesad:

Here's his Iwata Asks interview series. If you ever wonder why I'm so dogmatic about gameplay systems and admittingly biased toward Japanese game design, it's because of stuff that gets covered in this series that I have enjoyed over the years. He was a pretty cool cat and big loss for the industry. A president and representative who actually coded things worth a damn.

RIP

Wow, this is terrible and shocking news. :(

R.I.P

Savio 07-12-2015 08:29 PM

Thats sad :( didn't think he was old.....only 55 :/

the only time I really saw him though was when he fought Reggie Fils at E3 last year.

When he skipped out on this year's E3 over because of illness a lot of people dismissed it as an excuse. I didn't think much of it, myself. Didn't know it was that serious.

DAMN iNATOR 07-12-2015 09:37 PM

RIP.

Now the question becomes: Is Nintendo fucked, and if so, to what degree?

Kalyx triaD 07-12-2015 09:40 PM

Well depending on who takes the reins, the future can go either way.

:( RIP.

Knew he was sick from time to time but never though it was that serious.

If they can find him a one up mushroom soon he will get another life.

Sepholio 07-12-2015 11:24 PM

Woke up 2 minutes ago, saw the Mario FB had posted this news. Shocked.

RIP Mr Iwata. Thanks for the games, the laughs and the fun.

According to Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda are taking over as the interim bosses of the company until a successor is named.

Wall Street Journal thinks Miyamoto has a good chance at being Iwata's successor.
