dana white is right, its fake.
Everytime someone of promimence debounces wrestling as fake wrestlers get all bend out of of shape and cite their injuries as evidence that its not as fake as people make it out to be.
Injuries or deaths in the ring do not prove that wrestling is any less than a fake fight because the injury happened by accident -the same way if Tom Cruise fell on the set of Mission Impossible. People can get hurt doing anything- injuries do not boost the arguement. |
[Insert one of two stock posts responding to this thread:
A: Joke about being ignorant to the fact that it is fake. Eg. "Huh? It's fake?" B: IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMMIT] |
Tom Cruise is not falling on purpose though.
|
Neither are broken bones or concussions in the ring.

If I can be serious for a moment...
I don't think it's the declaration that "it's fake" that pisses wrestlers off. It's the intention behind it. When someone says "It's fake" in 2015, they aren't actually doing it to inform people that pro wrestling is scripted. It's 20 fucking 15. No one thinks wrestling is real anymore and no one is actually arguing that point. Anyone saying "It's fake" is really just trying to say "It's an illegitimate form of entertainment because it's fake". Which is retarded. And it tends to rub the people who participate in it and actually do work hard to make it entertaining the wrong way. |
Especially when it's coming from Dana White, who should thank his lucky fucking stars pro wrestling exists or he would have a shitload fewer 0's on his bank statement.
|
Alright, I gotta train for a big fight. Serious time over. Proceed with the silliness, TPWW.
|
Agreed. Every time someone tells me that wrestling is fake, it feels like they are calling me stupid.

blah blah blah shut up

Hit the nail on the head the use of "it's fake", as it is never being used to enlighten or to bring a point with any validity to it, it's being said to be condescending, as if all wrestling fans are the trailer park hillbillies on South Park holding signs saying "Quit Running Juggernaut". I knew it was fake the first time I saw it, and I never gave a shit.
It comes to something when the voice of reason and higher wisdom is Brock Lesnar. |
Does wrestling even bother with presenting itself as real anymore?
Seriously, it is like saying Seinfeld or Walking Dead is fake. |
|
|
UFC is very much pro wrestling inspired. The entrances with music, the belts, the hype packages, heaps of merchandising, weekly television, reality tv to help find and build new stars, and pushing Lesnar as an initial heat machine knowing he was a draw despite not beating anyone of note prior to UFC.
It's fucking obvious at this point. And there's nothing wrong with that. The formula clearly works. |
Everybody seems to be using the wrong 'F' word when it comes to pro wrestling. And the right word has 5 letters, not 4.
That word is 'Fixed'. Pro wrestling is Fixed, not Fake. It's just that we, the viewing public, don't know WHO each PW scenario is fixed FOR. We see that play out on TV/online. Though I don't expect the naive, incompetent mainstream media outlets to care which 'F' word matters. They talk about the subject far too narrowly, and want to bust people balls just for watching it. =P |
Fake is dick thing to say.
|
Yes Dana White is correct.
He is also an asshole. The two are not mutually exclusive. |
Didn't he say it a response to a fan being a dick about PPV buys?

There are similarities but if anything UFC was inspired more by movies like Bloodsport and video games like Mortal Kombat. MMAs completely based on barroom talks of who would win a boxer or a karate practitioner, a wrestler or a judoku, etc. It was then developed to show the world Gracie Ju Jitsu. Also, the first season of the Ultimate Fighter was in the summer of 2005, so I'm not really sure what wrestling reality show existed before that time. NFL, NBA, boxing, May Thai ,K1 etc all use music and pyro when intruding their product. Again there are similarities but this entire thread is a troll and you are feeding the bullshit. |
TE 1-3 Happened before TUF.
Also its time slot was right after Raw. |
The UFC does not mirror any other sport moreso than wrestling and/or boxing. Nba players aren't cutting promos or doing build vignettes, not are each members being given individual entrance music or being billed prior to the games with their weight and hometown.
And yeah, Tough Enough was on well before Ultimate Fighter was. They went after the same audience wrestling was after in the late 90s and early 00s. It's not about where the idea was derived from. It's about how everything is now presented. The fucking belts look like wrestling belts. I don't understand what the issue is here. There's nothing wrong with and if nothing else, Dana White is smart for taking a sports entertainment like approach to present legitimate combat. |
NBA absolutely does entrances with with the players stats, hometown, college, with music and pyro. They are promoting fights, so how would they do that without fighter interviews, promos, you know to build up the fights. If anything, pro wrestling stood that idea from boxing.

Oh man, Dana White is such a detective.
