Who made who
Got this idea for a thread reading a post the Bret thread, the idea is what superstar put over another and it made them what they are today.
Example would be Bret Hart made Stone Cold. Granted Steve was already sucessful before but the feud with Bret and the WM match pushed him to that next level. |
Triple H made Batista

Goddammit Lock Jaw you beat me to the AC/DC joke
Andre made Hogan
Hogan made Warrior Mr.Perfect made Bret Hart |
Bret Hart made Stone Cold Steve Austin (CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENT)
I know it is, its just my opinion. Austin was over already but like I said Bret took him to that next level.
This also works in reverse John Cena made Zach Ryder |
Oh, ok. I somehow forgot what the original post in the thread was.... so when I made my Bret/Austin comment, I thought I was being original....
Foley made HHH

Fairly big stretch to say Hennig made Bret. Definitely put him over strong, but dont think he had the juice at that point in his career to make someone. |
Mae Young made Mark Henry.
Becky Lynch made my penis hard.
Is that now how this works? |

For me it's "which feud pushed them from guy that's over to being a bonafide star". You could argue that Bret & Shawn elevated each other, same with Rock/Austin. Taker helped establish Mankind but his feud with Rocky put him over the top.
I'd say something like this; Bret > Austin > Rock > Foley > HHH > Batista |
FREEBIRD!

If anyone "made" Hogan it was Sylvester Stallone. :)
I mean of course he was over already, but I think his appearance in Rocky really did it for him. Then again, I really don't know much about his career in the 70s. |
If anyone made Warrior it was Rick Rude
Yeah, Warrior's peak was the Hogan match, and his valley was immediately after. I'm be inclined to agree that Rude sent him towards his fevered pitch with their IC title feud.
The Juice made The Rock
Flair made Sting Macho Man made DDP Edge & Christian & Hardy Boyz made each other The Rock made The Hurricane |
Controversial statement: The Undertaker made Edge as a main eventer.
And in a weird sort of way, Shawn Michaels made Chris Jericho.
I'd sort of agree with both of those.
Let's change this up a bit, make it more interactive.
Who? made DDP |
DDP is an interesting one. His feud with the nWo is what seemingly first got him "over." That he never joined them probably really helped him too. Was he made through that feud with Savage?
Yeah. He won feud of the year with Savage and recalls the night when Savage said he thought it was about time he eat a Diamond Cutter.
Yea, the Macho feud did him well and not joining the NWO made him that WCW guy with Sting being a 'free agent".
Who? made Kurt Angle |
That Olympic Gold Medal made him.
I'd say Austin as a heel made Kurt Angle look like a legit main event threat that could beat anyone.
Jeff Hardy made CM Punk right before leaving WWE.
I agree with Ruien. The Hardy/CM Punk fued made Punk. Had the perfect chemistry between each other and were complete opposite characters which made the feud great. To bad Hardy left but he did do a lot for TNA.
Exactly what did Jeff Hardy do for TNA? Besides embarrass them by showing up to a main event spun out of his mind.
Just from a fan stand point he did them well. Dude has a lot of fans that followed him to TNA. No doubt he has had his problems but if he wasn't in TNA would they have lasted this long? Him and Kurt are the 2 that have carried the company because they hadn't built anyone and they didn't trust Roode as the top guy. He has definitely done more good than bad for the company.

The Austin/Angle stuff was good, but the whole Invasion and "Austin shouldn't have been a heel" thing kind of got the impact of it lost. And as a viewer who was just getting a handle on how things in wrestling worked, I sort of marked out for Angle, but sort of felt like he was still a goof that I was suddenly meant to like. |

He hasn't done jack for the company other than give them another known name that's drifted off to obscurity. "Carried" is a strong word for a company that's gone through three tv deals in the span of ten years or so, gained zero traction in elevating its brand and is now in dire straights. Not a knock in Jeff but him being in TNA has provided zero long term benefit. They're still going down the toilet. |
