Daniel Bryan to make a possible retirement decision in the near future
All hinges on an upcoming doctor's decision and if he can't get cleared, he's retiring from wrestling. Would be interested in staying as an announcer or trainer if given the chance by the WWE.

Damn, this goes against what he said just a month or two ago about how even if WWE's doctors don't clear him his own doctors have cleared him and that he intends on wrestling again once his contract is up.
Good for him if he decides to hang 'em up, though. Concussions are serious business. |
Good to see WWE putting the wellness of their stars above profits.
|
Concussions aren't that serious. Countless wrestlers have had concussions, and nothing bad has ever come of any of 'em.

Maybe he could rassle in a helmet. Or at the very least Farooq's original gear.

Part of me wonder's if this is not the WWE's warped reaction and response to Daniel Bryan's wrestling style being too familiar with Chris Benoit's, the on-going former WWE wrestler's concussion lawsuit and CM Punk's concussion allegations whom is somewhat close to Bryan personally.
It also promotes fear within the locker room in terms of being honest and reporting concussion symptoms. Report your concussion and you'll lose your push and current standing (Dolph Ziggler - World Heavyweight Championship). Report your concussion and we'll retire you (Christian, Corey Graves, Daniel Bryan). Then there is the other part that thinks Daniel Bryan is being vague about his concussion history (I can't fault him as it is a personal matter). He just says long concussion history without giving any specifics. If he were to say he's had 20 documented concussions on record or that he spent 2 months not knowing who he was, that would alarm many doctor's and people. Consider that as many concussions that are documented there are probably just as many that went unnoticed or undocumented. He's also on record as saying he has lost some mobility and strength in one of his arms due to his neck issues and years in the ring. Combine those together with the fact that he's made enough money in the business, has done it all and can retire is another factor. Plus, he'd be a great trainer, agent or company guy so he could make his money there. |
He'd definitely be a shoo-in for the WWE HoF if he did have to retire...how many guys can claim to be WWE Grand Slam Champions, let alone accomplishing it in only 4-5 years?

Bret Hart called it, he has been done for a while and didn't want to accept the fact, and now it is finally dawning on him that this is it.
He has had a fantastic career and anything he did would never top that night at Wrestlemania. He will be upset, but in the end I think he will feel fortunate that he had THAT moment before all of this happened. It is a lesson to all wrestlers coming up though on what style to adopt. This high impact, hard hitting style is exciting but will cut your career in half unless you are very fortunate. |

I think, even if he gets a positive third opinion, might be in Vince and co's best interest to force him out. What with the Benoit concussion issues, CM Punk's claims, and concussions ingeneral being far more a focus in today's sports than ever before, I can't say I blame wwe if it's decided to never clear Bryan for in ring action.

Bret "The Truthman" Hart :
Daniel Bryan is finished. He'll never wrestle again. I don't think he knows it yet. I feel terrible about Daniel Bryan. For all intents and purposes, he had the exact same thing happen to him that happened to me after Bill Goldberg kicked me in the head. One day, you learn it's over. Doctors tell you that you can't wrestle and you'll never wrestle again. I lost millions of dollars because of that. I pray that it's not the same for Daniel Bryan. I saw him in a lot of his matches after he came back from the injury, and he was taking suplexes on the back of his head, powerbombs, and other really dangerous moves. I know he wanted to test it out, but I think he may have pushed himself too hard. He's like Dynamite Kid in the sense that they're both tough and neither wanted to admit that injuries got the best of them. He's finished forever, but I don't think he's even realized that. He's probably thinking, ‘Maybe it will get better in a few months,' but unfortunately, I don't think it will." |
Crazy to think that that Goldberg kick happened 15 years ago!

So bummed we didn't get Bryan/Brock when we had the chance.
|
Yeah, that was a missed opportunity for sure. Too bad we'll probably only ever get to dream about it in a similar manner to Rock/HBK.
