2016 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame nominees.
You should know the routine by now: Bold should go in, Italics likely will.
The Cars]- You might think I'm crazy, but Isee this band getting in. Chic- they've been nominated every damned time I've posted this. Maybe Nile and company finally get in. Chicago - Best Horn section in Rock should be a lock. Cheap Trick - should go in, but won't this year. Deep Purple - the fact they aren't in already is a travesty. Won't this year, either. Janet Jackson - I'd be more surprised if she isn't inducted. The J.B.'s - a bit of a dark horse, but James Brown's backing band deserves. Chaka Khan - is more deserving than Ms. Jackson, but it's another one or the other, and Chaka loses. Los Lobos - Another dark horse, but wouldn't be shocked. Steve Miller - Great guitarist, but the Space Cowboy won't get in. NIN - Gotta bring in those Gen Xers. N.W.A. - Because of Straight Outta Compton. The Smiths - Does angst better, but it's them or NIN, so they lose. The Spinners - Another perrenial nomination, not their year here, either. Yes It'll either be a prog rock band or a metal band. Not both. Thoughts? Opinions? |
Janet Jackson?
I can see why they'd induct Michael, but her? |
Ah, let's be real, that hall of fame has nothing to do with rock n roll anymore. If it ever did.
|
The inductions were:
Chicago Cheap Trick Deep Purple (about time) Steve Miller and N.W.A. |
Very underwhelming and hollow feeling with that list. Its... ok.
|
Given the choices its a good list might have replaced the NWA with the Smiths or Yes.
Just not sure NWA could be considered Rock in any way shape or form. |
It still chaps my ass that Pixies aren't in.
|
Or Black Flag. Or Thin Lizzy. Or Maiden. Or Weird Al (for a novelty act, he's been more relevant for longer than most of the folks he parodies.)
