I wish Chris Benoit was still alive

...and hadn't committed those horrific murders. I remember crying when he won the World Heavyweight title in the main event of Wrestlemania XX. He was so cool in the ring...I don't know guys. I'm a little emotional at the moment. Will have to manually scrub through the video archive on the network to get my Benoit fix.

Damian Rey 10-10-2015 02:23 AM

Extremely tragic. When the reports of his brain function and quality started surfacing it made me feel even worse. Can't even imagine what was going through his head or his state of mind during that time period.

GD 10-10-2015 02:25 AM

I wish I could time travel and tell him to not take chair shots to the head. Remember being in "total disbelief" when Eddie Guerrero passed away...Benoit made it worse with all the emotions draining out of his eyeballs. Fuckz1

Damian Rey 10-10-2015 02:31 AM

Eddie's was worse for me. Everything had been going so perfect for him for a number of years and then poof, he's gone. The sins of his past finally catching up to him and bringing him down. Just awful.

GD 10-10-2015 02:35 AM

There was always the rumor of him becoming the World Heavyweight Champion. Just so friggin sad right now. I miss Eddie.

Disturbed316 10-10-2015 05:40 AM

Eddie's death broke my heart, Benoit's broke my spirit. Totally devastated by both of them as I was a huge fan of them, especially the way things ended for Benoit and his family.

Clerk 10-10-2015 05:58 AM

If he was still alive he would be in prison for life. Hopefully he was still alive so he would be raped everyday and beaten. He's a fucking coward and a little bitch. You also are a fucking dickhead for wanting him to be alive so fuck you aswell

Shisen Kopf 10-10-2015 06:23 AM

Yeah Crispin Wah was a bad, bad man. Why couldn't he just kill himself? Why did he have to kill Woman and his kid? Fuck him!

Chris Benoit was almost as boring as Bret Hart.

Jari 10-10-2015 10:11 AM

You had Bill Apter on Jericho's podcast lately talking about Benoit and his theory that the Benoit and his family were murdered and then the scene was set to look like Benoit had murdered his wife and son (it all sounded like Bill Apter was desperate to believe his version of events rather than actually believing in his theory) and it reminded me of Benoit's career and his death.

I remember turning on Raw the night it was announced he had died. The introduction package was this whole tribute to Benoit and I figured he had retired - major shock when I found out he was dead.

Also, even though I'm able to seperate Benoit the performer from the man who committed the acts he did, it's really difficult to watch him retrospectively because of what we know about the condition of his brain and how his career in wrestling inevitably will have contributed to the deterioration of his brain. It almost feels like enjoying him is condoning the lengths he went to being such an exciting guy to watch in the ring, when you know he didn't have to be nearly brutal on himself as he was.

hb2k 10-10-2015 10:27 AM

I've never believed Bill Apter was as completely retarded until I read that he said that. Not saying the local police were absolutely immaculate in their job, they did make mistakes, but given all the evidence that completely opposes that, it's just not feasible. The idea that anybody but Benoit killed them is an opinion shared by the same people that think Elvis Presley is still alive. Fuck's sake. Sadly I know promoters on the British wrestling scene that think it might be a conspiracy, because they know so little about the reality of it, which I find offensive. At least Apter has been kayfabing for 30 years and I can believe he might put that bullshit on a magazine cover back in the day.

It's gotten to the point where I certainly don't have a problem watching Benoit and remembering just how fucking ace he was at his job, but like a lot of you have said, the emotion is completely out of it.

Well, I happen to know Elvis is indeed alive. Living on Tupac Island, too.

It was kinda awkward cause you've got Jericho sitting there just kinda going "Uh huh". Like I said it sounded like the words of a man desperate to believe what he was saying, rather than actually having any conviction in his words.

Angry young man

Maluco 10-10-2015 12:52 PM

I was thinking about this the other day and how Jericho spoke so well in the aftermath, but as time passed and he commented on things as they calmed down, there was an obvious string of thought in his words that hinted at the fact that there was something off about Benoit, even though he was a friend.

It made me wonder if his mental state was a gradual decline and he had been mentally ill for a while and people had written it off as him being cold or private.

Damian Rey 10-10-2015 12:58 PM

Often wondered the same. I don't think anyone has ever came out about his demeanor in the months or years leading too tragedy, but I've always been curious as to whether the the mental deterioration was noticeable outside of the ring. Not sure we'll ever find out.

Maluco 10-10-2015 01:01 PM

There were a few things for me, Jericho's wording as time went on, Regal's hesitation in his reaction to the news before it all came out and a Kendrick/London shoot interview were they (particularly London) are quite open about his general demeanour being strange/sinister

Rammsteinmad 10-10-2015 04:09 PM

I'm sure I've read interviews or something where Benoit was described as a bully backstage, or was very cold and reclusive.

But then, I've also read things that make it sound like nothing more than simple hazing between the guys.

Heres a question :

If benoits brain was so fucked up how did he remember spots, finishes , run ins and so on. Fuck how did he remember which city to go or even his phone number?

What would he be in prison for then?

Might not have been as injured in the area of the brain that accesses memories and things to remember as 1 or more other areas of his brain. Just a theory. I don't know if anybody will ever know for sure.

Heisenberg 10-13-2015 09:06 AM

Glad he is where he is, no one deserves redemption for what he did. Performing finishers on your family is not cool, you can't just dive off a turnbuckle and decide to kill your wife. That's not what husbands do. You don't see me destroying my family cause I was relegated to an ECW level of my workplace.

Everytime he shows up on the Network he should be wearing a wifekiller shirt so people remember who he truly was, oh plus he made his son tap to his submission finisher? Are you so over in your mind that you finish a poor child off with your signature? Give me a damn break.

Shisen Kopf 10-13-2015 08:02 PM

Yeah exactly, fuck Benoit. And shame on you Guru Dave for looking up to this psycho. Shame!

Heisenberg 10-14-2015 09:07 AM

In the future we'll have the technology to place Tatanka over Benoit on the Network and completely wipe him from our memory banks

<font color=goldenrod>I felt like I had been punched in the gut when I heard about Eddie's death. My heart sank and I just couldn't believe it. I had just watched him wrestle on TV days earlier and it was tough to accept that he was gone just like that.

When I first read about Benoit's death, my heart sank again...but there was just something different about it. Maybe it's because the way WWE worded its press release "Chris Benoit and his family were found dead" and it just seemed so...weird. My mind didn't immediately jump to a murder-suicide situation, but it was clear that something abnormal had happened.

Even as I watched the Benoit tribute show that night, I got nowhere near as emotional as I did watching Eddie's. And seeing Regal's "testimonial" on the Benoit show, you could just tell from his tone and what he was saying that he too suspected something was up. Made it all feel more eerie than anything else.</font>

Evil Vito 10-14-2015 09:40 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Anyway I think WWE have handled Benoit pretty much perfectly in the last few years. What he did was horrible and they are completely in the right for essentially erasing him from history and never mentioning him on television. There's no reason to acknowledge or glorify him.

But keeping him in the Network archives was the right call so they don't have to hack segments and matches out of shows. I prefer to watch shows to their completion, and that includes watching the Benoit matches when they come up. But they've made it easy enough to skip over his stuff if seeing him makes the viewer uncomfortable.</font>

Jura 10-14-2015 10:34 PM

When it happened, everything made it seem like someone murdered Benoit and his family. Those texts Chavo was receiving from him that day and other stuff gave me that impression. Maybe I was the only one in this forum that felt that but it seems this Apter guy had the same impression. They gave him a 10 count tribute thingy too and then a couple of days later it made things even more surprising when the news said it was a murder-suicide.

They might say otherwise now, but that's what most people were thinking at the time. Home invasion or such.

DAMN iNATOR 10-16-2015 08:22 AM

I just recall being utterly baffled and disappointed that he didn't show up for his scheduled mstch @ Vengeance: Night of Champions match for the ECW Championship which at the time was vacant.

Watched RAW the next night and it may have been the first I learned of at least part of the story. It was profoundly sad, and I didn't hold back the tears because being in touch with your emotions is not a character flaw, and I just was shocked and horrified at his sudden passing. I was even more saddened to find out what he'd done not only to himself but also his family, which in turn probably led me to weep even more not just for him but his family as well.

Nicky Fives 10-16-2015 08:38 AM

Most of the kids will have no idea who Benoit was/is nowadays, so he's pretty much irrelevant to them.... those diehard fans who still remember, are those who want to watch his great matches versus Jericho, Angle, Austin, Guerrero, Raven, Malenko, Bret, HHH, etc.

Almost 10 years has passed (crazy, I know) and I think WWE has handled things perfectly as well....Although I would like the Crossface referred to as the Crippler Crossface, but that's being picky....

Anybody Thrilla 10-16-2015 07:32 PM

There's absolutely no reason to call it the Crippler Crossface.

Jura 10-16-2015 10:04 PM

He was occasionally referred to in WWE ad the "Canadian Crippler", though wasn't he?

Seems to me that'd be a pretty damn good reason to call it that.

I understand that, you dick mouth. I am saying there's no reason to pay homage to a murderer that you don't even openly acknowledge anymore.
