Horror Fans - Which film would you say kickstarted the slasher genre: Psycho, Black Christmas, Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Halloween?

Neither.

Friday started it, and supplied many of it's tropes even if it wasn't the first.

I kinda though Texas Chainsaw was something a little different

More interesting question, or game perhaps, is which old school movie influenced another.

Ie. Was House of 1000 corpses a homage to the Texas Chainsaw massacre ?
