The Greatest IC Champions
In your opinion, who were the greatest Intercontinental Champs of all time? List the Top 10 (and maybe explain your reasoning, if you want)
Pat Patterson Ken Patera Pedro Morales Don "The Rock" Muraco Tito Santana Greg "The Hammer" Valentine Randy "Macho Man" Savage Ricky Steamboat The Honky Tonk Man Ravishing Rick Rude The Ultimate Warrior Mr. Perfect Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich Mr. Perfect Bret "The Hitman" Hart The Mountie Rowdy Roddy Piper The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith Shawn Michaels Marty Jannetty Razor Ramon Diesel Jeff Jarrett Dean Douglas Goldust Ahmed Johnson Hunter Hearst-Helmsley Rocky Maivia Owen Hart Stone Cold Steve Austin Ken Shamrock Val Venis The Road Dogg The Godfather Edge D'Lo Brown Chyna Chris Jericho Kurt Angle Chris Benoit Eddie Guerrero Billy Gunn Jeff Hardy Kane Albert Lance Storm Christian Test William Regal Rob Van Dam Booker T Randy Orton |

I'd have to go with:
Mr Perfect Owen Hart Bret Hart Razor Ramon Chris Jericho D'Lo Brown Eddie Guerrero Texas Tornado Randy Savage Randy Orton |
bret hart

Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect were above them all.

jokes over. Now, in no particular order:
10. Greg "the Hammer" Valentine 9. The Honky Tonk Man 8. Kurt Angle 7. Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat 6. Eddie Guerrero 5. Chris Benoit 4. Owen Hart 3. "Macho Man" Randy Savage 2. Bret "Hitman" Hart 1. Mr. Perfect |
In no particular order:
Savage Rude Bret Hart Shawn Michaels Triple H The Rock Owen Hart Kurt Angle Chris Jericho Razor Ramon On talent alone, Steamboat and SCSA deserve to be mentioned, but for some reason, I don't associate Austin with the I-C belt. And Steamboat had his reign cut really short because he wanted time off, so Vince had him job to HTM. HTM himself had a really long reign, but was booked to look like such a worthless piece of crap that it's hard to think of him as 'great.' I remember one four-week stretch on USA Primetime where Honky faced Lanny Poffo, Hillbilly Jim, Tito Santana, then 'Cowboy' Scott Casey. The matches went: cheat to win, cheat to win, DQ to retain, cheat to win...yikes. Not his fault, but still, it killed his credibility. |
Pedro Morales
Don Muraco Tito Santana Greg Valentine Randy Savage Bret Hart Curt Hennig Razor Ramon The Rock Chris Jericho |

Definitely the Godfather

Based on revenue alone, HTM is probably one of the top workers in WWE history. But as a fan, I just remember him going months at a time between clean wins. |

 Loose Cannon posted in a thread about the Intercontinental Title without even mentioning Orton? Damn, that takes all the fun out of it!
Anyways, IMO the best I-C Champion has got to be Owen Hart. |
^^Go check the Q&A forum ;)

I saw it, you forked-tongued devil, you!

Yeah, after switching through about forty billion different titles, I think I found one I can work with.

In no order
Shawn Michaels Bret Hart Chris Jericho Chris Benoit Kurt Angle Roddy Piper Mr Perfect Randy Orton Triple H The Rock |
A couple of you are fans of the Honky Tonk Man, and that's fine, but the guy makes me sick. "Why?" you might ask. Read his website. He's a very bitter man who believes his own hype. He hates Piper because of this, Hogan cause of that, Nash is this, and Hall is that. He bad mouthed Mr Perfect when he died, bad mouthed Lugar AND Elizabeth when she passed, but praises the hell out of Jake Roberts. :nono:

errr...um can I just say one name to be as annoying as Steve from Family matters.

Just for the record Rude DID past away before Perfect and Elizabeth. Just over 5 years now.

as a person, htm leaves a lot to be desired but as a heel IC champ he did what he was supposed to (and did it well imo) </font> |
Its pretty obvious, Randy Orton is #1-10, he's simply the best.
|
orton hasn't done anything for the title...so far.
|
Well, Orton has held it longer than some of the most noteworthy champions in history. Orton so far has held it 164 days by my calculations, beating off the likes of Ricky Steamboat (65 days), Rick Rude (128), Kevin Nash (118), Steve Austin (less than 92, combined), Billy Gunn (19) and Shane Douglas (15... minutes).
Not that I'm saying he's the best champion ever, but if they leave it on him for a few more months... |
If the WWE officals are as high on Orton as we all think they are, they'll probably try to make him one of the best of all time, if not the best. He's got all the tools to be the next "legend", they just need to take their time to build him up to be so. So far, so good :y:
|
I'd say The Rock, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Jeff Jarrett, Shawn Michaels, Mr. Perfect, and Razor Ramon
|
The Rock, Rick Rude, Bret Hart, Angle, Benoit, Jericho ... most of these people have been mentioned already.
I like The Rock's reign especially because he reminded me of The Honky Tonk Man...the way he would retain the victories. |
