Vince Russo's Unsolved Mysteries
So, for this week's podcast, we're going to look at the plotholes, unfinished angles, illogical storyline contradictions, and even angles that were finished that still left you dumbfounded, that were put together under Vince Russo's runs in WWF, WCW and TNA.
So the question is, which specific Vinnie Ru plotholes or illogical angles left you scratching your head or pissed you off, and why? As always, the best contributions will be read on the show and you'll be credited accordingly. So which ones from his body of work really got under your skin the most, bro? EDIT - The show discussing Vince Russo's Unsolved Mysteries and taking your suggestions is now online and available to listen to at the following link: http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean....dMysteries.mp3 |
How was the Test/Steph angle SUPPOSED to end? The story almost made Test. The way it ended killed his character.
|
Who raised the brief case? Brisco? Patterson? Sgt Slaughter?

Who were the ninjas that kidnapped Samoa Joe?
Who drove the white limo? |

When you think about it really though, for that being such a significant story arc it really is incredible how little Test got over as a result of all of it

I really didn't watch to much of anything Russo did when I was younger. Watched WCW when he was in WWF and by the time he got to WCW we were watching more of WWF. I will say that the S.E.X thing in TNA was stupid, him booking himself on TV and winning the title was stupid. He's creative but some of his ideas are just weird and strange.

That's true, but recent history with Reigns suggests they're willing to be bullish on below-average talents
|
They wouldn't be insisting on Reigns as the top guy if there was an Austin and a Rock ripping shit up.
I also don't understand why Test got as many pushes as he did. After the Stephanie thing he was prominently featured with Albert & Trish. He was prominent through a lot of the Invasion, from being the suspected mole to winning the immunity battle royal after a highly placed title unification match. Then he got paired with Stacy in that interminable BS angle that eventually involved Scott Steiner. All of this was at least moderately featured on the show despite the fact that he was frequently the least interesting thing in the angle (and FFS I HATE Big Poppa Poop.) This is getting off topic but I think we maybe want to find out who he had compromising photos of. |
I thought Test was a good midcarder. stacy and Test were dating in real life so they just put that on screen.

Not really an actual Russo thing and more of a TNA thing but tied to Russo.
The mystery of why TNA would hire Russo one last time knowing full well at the time Spike TV hated him and would punish TNA if they ever found out. Still trying to figure out the logic of that especially when it happened during the time TNA was trying to secure a future for Impact. |

He did have a good line going into a King of the Ring one time: "The Next Big Thing is gonna get the Next Big Boot." His boot looked good, up there with Harper's. His top rope elbow was solid, as well. I think, had he not had issues and was still around, he would be a Main Eventer today. Take that for what you will. |
Who was behind GTV.
Didn't the limo change colour? Or was that not Russo |
Who rose the ladder out of Stone Cold's reach at King of the Ring 1999 against the McMahons?
Why did he think Jeff Jarrett was worth a fuck? |

Was actually PWI that reported about it and only reason Spike knew about it was because they read the dirtsheets. |

2. To be fair, they finally figured out how to get Jarrett over in the summer of '99, and he was a top 3 heel at the time. He was on fire from July - October when he left. Unfortunately, he realized that he was never going to rise above where he was because Austin would never work with him and HHH was getting the rocket push, and he took WCW $$ with a better career opportunity offered by Russo. |
I want to thank everybody for the contributions, we got to read many of them on the show, which is now available at the following link:
