I asked about it in the Q&A on his site, he hasn't answered it yet. :(

Kane Knight 05-23-2004 05:06 PM

HE says "Stand Back."

He says it in an accent, but he does say Stand back. It is, however, in a fashion that sounds almost like "Stay in da back."

KillerWolf 05-23-2004 05:09 PM

it CLEARLY says "stand back"

Savio 05-23-2004 05:11 PM

he says stand stainda?

Savio 05-23-2004 05:15 PM

I just did it in slo-mo it is "stay in the back"

Kazara 05-23-2004 05:18 PM

It's,

"Stand'ah Back!"

Nowhere Man 05-23-2004 05:20 PM

It's "stand back." Like KK said, he just does it with an accent, so "stand" sort of sounds like "sta-yun-duh." I live in Alabama, and believe me, people with that sort of accent love to put extra syllables onto words.

His catchphrase (besides "whassupwitdat") has ALWAYS been "Stand Back." So why would it be different in the song? "Stay in the back" doesn't make any sense, either. When something dangerous is coming your way, people don't tell you to "stay in the back" unless there's a different room or something.

Oxstar 05-23-2004 05:21 PM

"Stand back"

Team Sexy are jobbing again!

Ignoring the fact that slo-mo will just further distort the issue, you still have to deal with the fact that your wwords make no sense at all.

He's saying stay in the back of the locker room. Stand back doesn't make sence.

Plus, he's supposed to be a corny superhero. What do corny superheroes say? Things like "Stand back, citizen, I'll handle this!"

Why would he tell people to stay in the back of the locker room?

Jonster 05-23-2004 05:34 PM

Definately Stand Back.

So they don't get hit by the hurricane.

"Stand back" makes perfect sense. It's something that people said all the time in old movies or comics when something dangerous or powerful or whatever was coming. You wanted to stand back so you could see it, but not get too close and get hurt. Nobody ever said "stay in the back," which essentially means either stand in the back of a crowd so you can't see anything, or like you were saying, staying in the back room and cowering. "Stand back" is sort of another way of saying "watch out." "Stay in the back" is labeling you as a wuss.

And again, listen to any of Hurricane's promos when he says it. He always, ALWAYS, says "Stand back," so again, why would his catchphrase be any different in the theme music?

So basically, the same argument one could make for STAND BACK?

Thank you. Plus, "stand back" is a much more common phrase than "stay in the back."

It doesn't matter if it is a more common phrase.

Apparently you've never talked to a southerner or someone who speaks ebonics.

Yes it does. No one says "stay in the back," so they wouldn't get it if someone said it. It's too awkward, and why would they bother when there's already a phrase with all the implied connotations and meanings behind it?

And I repeat, GO LISTEN TO HURRICANE'S PROMOS. He has never once, in his whole stay in WWE, said "stay in the back." They don't change around the Rock's or Booker T's catchphrases in their theme songs; having Hurricane say "stand back" in his promos and "stay in the back" in his theme song would be retarded.

Did you read the whole topic?

Disturbed316 05-23-2004 05:55 PM

Yeah

And it's clearly 'Stand Back'

Savio 05-23-2004 05:57 PM

Stand is just one Syllable not 3

Disturbed316 05-23-2004 06:00 PM

Its his accent, which has been stated already

DMI 05-23-2004 06:02 PM

OMG its STAND BACK, get over it, move on, and let me get back to "sucking nuts."
Thank you.

Savio 05-23-2004 06:03 PM

still I went down south before and I don't hear people saying stainda.

Disturbed316 05-23-2004 06:04 PM

lol i cant believe you still think its 'stay in the back'

its two words, there is no way four words can fit into that time period.
