The Official Royal Rumble 2016 Thread

So let's discuss the ppv that's happening next Sunday?

Will you be watching?

Mr. Nerfect 01-18-2016 12:52 AM

Nah. But I will be there for the hookers.

Schlomey 01-18-2016 10:43 AM

I'll be watching but my expectations have never been lower. Well that's a lie. We all knew Batista was going to win the Rumble 2 years ago well in advance. Really looking forward to the Owens vs Ambrose LMS match, however.

road doggy dogg 01-18-2016 11:58 AM

did I miss the Rumble, it wasn't last night was it

Evil Vito 01-18-2016 12:01 PM

I'm probably gonna watch the NFC Title game until the Rumble match itself starts. That's all I really care about.

Owens/Ambrose LMS match could be good fun...but nothing I can't watch later.

No its next Sunday.

Simple Fan 01-18-2016 12:03 PM

Yeah, NFL wiil be top priority, might watch RR on my phone.

Schlomey 01-18-2016 12:05 PM

Which game is happening during the RR? Patriots or Broncos?

Simple Fan 01-18-2016 12:07 PM

NFC Championship I believe

Big Vic 01-18-2016 02:16 PM

I thought they always had the rumble in the week between the playoffs and the superbowl.... what gives?

Emperor Smeat 01-18-2016 02:28 PM

Supposedly they didn't care for this year which is pretty rare for them. Had a similar situation occur a few years ago but the Rumble date got pushed back after a while.

Frank Drebin 01-18-2016 02:42 PM

I'm sure they would rather there be zero competition, but the Rumble is alot of people's favorite show so either you're going to watch it or not is probably their line of thinking. Not like they need to worry about ppv buys anymore.

BigCrippyZ 01-18-2016 03:08 PM

Rumble is one of my favorite events of the year (second only to Mania and some years ends up being better than Mania) but this year I'm not interested or planning on watching it.

I'd rather watch the NFC championship game as that seems way more entertaining and interesting. If the NFC championship wasn't on, I'd probably have nothing better to watch on Sunday so I'd be much more likely and inclined to check out the Rumble.

Granted, I haven't been following the product much at all and I haven't watched an episode of Raw live since the Raw after Mania last year in 2015. Other than that I've only seen a few segments when flipping through and coming across reruns of Raw and SD on the weekends before getting bored and turning the channel. That being said I try to read the results and spoilers on here but nothing intrigues me about the current product or the upcoming Rumble match.

Dean Ambrose is the one guy on the roster that I'm remotely interested in who's not Lesnar, and Ambrose is being treated like everyone else on the roster who aren't named Lesnar or Reigns. Put in a meaningless, repetitive, boring, nonsensical feud with no purpose nor anything of importance occurring from the outcome.

MEH...conference championship games are just the foreplay before the SB anyway. The show will do fine.

Icame4Hookers 01-19-2016 07:03 AM

So Roman got the number 1 spot, like that was not even predictable lol

drave 01-19-2016 07:50 AM

:nono:

Theo Dious 01-19-2016 09:08 AM

They could actually build to a great ending where Roman & Brock are forced to team up because the other foup guys in the ring are the Wyatts.

And I totally want to see Bray walk out of this as champion.

Lesnar v Wyatt, main event. The most interesting thing they could do, imo. Having them demolish Brock last night puts them back over and because they're all big fucking dudes that look legit in overpowering Brock.

Then you could do Roman v Hunter as a featured match instead of a title.

Still no idea what you do with Taker.

Nicky Fives 01-19-2016 10:37 AM

Royal Rumble & WrestleMania are the two events that I make sure I watch live every year, very interested what is going to happen this year, can only get better from the DB controversy last year....

I am skeptical with the Rumble. When they first announced that it was for the title, I thought it was PrettyCool, but now it is all about 1 person from start to finish which will be borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring as fuck.

It will probably go something like:

Roman enters, gets a few eliminations

Two semi-credible heels enter back to back for a beatdown and "OMG HE IS GOING TO LOSE THE TITLE" moments

A face, maybe Ambrose, will come down and "make the save"

The good guys fight "against all odds" until

Eat
Sleep
Win the title
Repeat

Though the Wyatt curveball from RAW is intriguing, every single other time they have built them as a force, they just get schooled in the "big matches" and always lose the feud.

Damian Rey 01-19-2016 11:21 AM

If there was ever a time to pull the trigger on Wyatt, it is definitely now. He's arguably the most credible and over heel they have, the group as a whole is over, and they need a top heel and fresh opponent for Lesnar. This is the one match I'd be very interested in seeing.

Lesnar going against 4 guys who are as physically imposing as he is provides a new dynamic that we haven't seen since Brock came back.

weather vane 01-19-2016 11:25 AM

Always watch the Rumble. Probably going to be Lesnar/Reigns/Sheamus/Wyatt final four but that's ok. Give me a few surprises. AJ Styles would be sick. Plus a few legends.

drave 01-19-2016 11:28 AM

Feel like Styles should come in and get some key eliminations to start a good program.

Honestly, if they want him heel, have HIM be the one to eliminate Reigns where there are 5-6 people left. That would give things a bit of a "spark".

I dunno, anything sounds good right now.

mrwalty 01-19-2016 11:59 AM

Easily the Rumble is the 2nd best PPV for me behind WM and I will be watching it although not live as its at like 1am for me.

Hoping Bray wins but meh it should be a good show

road doggy dogg 01-19-2016 12:01 PM

Would be great/hilarious if Reigns is eliminated like 7th

Big Vic 01-19-2016 12:03 PM

It'd make the rumble 5x more interesting.....

I think I'll watch the rumble... first full match i have seen since i made that "wake me up thread"

Rammsteinmad 01-19-2016 12:03 PM

I'll probably stream it the next day and skip through the whole PPV in about an hour.

Rumble matches have been fucking awful since forever (with 2011 being the exception). Don't care for anyone involved, none of the potential booking outcomes etc. The only thing that'd get me excited is Dean Ambrose winning, or Cesaro/Daniel Bryan returning and winning.

You haven't missed anything.

Icame4Hookers 01-19-2016 12:11 PM

The past 3 Rumbles have been a total let down for me.

I guess next year will be even worse, how many injury's ? How long
left until Cena breaks his neck?

Evil Vito 01-19-2016 12:53 PM

2015 was the first Rumble match in a long time that I completely hated. Once Bryan got eliminated all of the air was sucked right out of the building and it was impossible to get into anything else.

2014's ending was terrible too but everything up until Rey coming out at #30 kept me entertained.

Yeah I read the results on TPWW.com, nothing about them really suck me in. I am only really watching the rumble because I like the type of match up and Brock is in it.

Icame4Hookers 01-19-2016 01:05 PM

Bryan needs to come back and become champion again, but obviously won't happen
because HHH want's the title to be kept around his homies, just like Orton Batista, HBK and HH

Big Vic 01-19-2016 01:21 PM

:(

CSL 01-19-2016 01:36 PM

I shall watch the WWE Royal Rumble 2016 match live! That's about all I have to contribute rn

CSL 01-19-2016 01:39 PM

still think we'll see a few "big" NXT guys involved, being in the Rumble doesn't mean they have to be on the main roster/show up on RAW the night after. Big part of me expects Balor to be in it, say somebody like Sheamus "cleans house"/winds up being alone in the ring somewhere between the early and middle parts of the match, countdown, lights off, full demon entrance for Balor etc, crowd will eat it up, he can have a strong showing in the match, get to the last 5 or 6 and get eliminated by Brock or somebody and it does him no harm at all

CSL 01-19-2016 01:40 PM

he'll only be like halfway through his entrance tho by the time the next guy comes out
