Commentator Vince-isms

Vince McMahon is the best and worst commentator of all time. He was easily detestable and almost pretended to know nothing about wrestling as well was a complete "corporate phony".

But he was brilliant in that he was good at swaying a narrative, had a great commentator's cadence and flowed nicely with the match.

That being said, he had certain turns of phrases that were just great, and for me are ingrained in wrestling lore.

Add your "Vince-Isms" in this thread, because there are a lot to choose from.

In short TPWW Wrasslin Forum, which is your favourite go to Vince line?

My personal fave was him calling Bret Hart (most specifically) "The most scientific WWF wrestler of all time". I just thing it is easily the most hilarious explanation of a technical wrestler. Is he doing equations before the match? Why were technical wrestlers always referred to as "scientific" wrestlers. It is completely idiotic. Yet as a kid, I knew exactly what he was saying, and I guess makes sense, but what the hell. The man is crazy.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-21-2016 04:33 PM

I enjoy "Illustrious"

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-21-2016 04:33 PM

Austin always busts that out and you can tell it was because Vince was always saying it around him.

The Condor 02-21-2016 04:38 PM

"In any event..."

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 12:19 AM

i'm imagining these all in Vince's commentator voice.

The Condor 02-22-2016 12:22 AM

Un-be-leivable!!

A favorite of mine was of Vince doing the old school Royal Rumble inductions, especially Hakuuuuuu.

Aren't we all? Glad I'm not the only one.

Vastardikai 02-22-2016 12:50 AM

C'mon ref, get in there!

What a son of a bitch! (only said once, and bitch was bleeped. The call is great because of why.)

Theo Dious 02-22-2016 12:59 AM

"Let's go to the ring!"
or
"Let's go backstage where Sean Mooney is standing by with (insert name here)!"

Always said as if whoever was in the ring or waiting backstage was the most exciting thing or person imaginable.

Vastardikai 02-22-2016 01:05 AM

Kind of wish Cole did that, acted like things mattered.

"He just hit hall of famer Pat Patterson!"

Damian Rey 2.0 02-22-2016 01:34 PM

"THAT'S GORILLA MONSOON!" Vader attacking Monsoon is far and away one of by favorite moments ever.

Evil Vito 02-22-2016 01:39 PM

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 02:05 PM

I like when there's like an awkward moment and he has to no sell it, but you know he's going out of his fucking mind "behind the camera"

Schlomey 02-22-2016 02:29 PM

My least favorite Vince-ism is at every Royal Rumble everybody "joined the fray" ....every fucking person "joined the fray".....fuuuuuuuuu

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 02:43 PM

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 02:43 PM

Some anatomical terms I learned from Vince was solar plexus and sternum.

Also..."HE'S HAMMERING AWAY" and "HAHAHA GO GET EM RAZOR!"

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 06:00 PM

lmfao yes

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 06:02 PM

AND SPEAKING OF THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN TED DIBIASE

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 06:03 PM

I'm just realizing pretty much everything he said was awesome because he is gimmicking his voice and cadence so hard.

BAM BAM BIGELOW TO SQUARE OF ONE-ON-ONE WITH THE BRITISH BULL DOG

Theo Dious 02-22-2016 06:55 PM

I'm also reminded of the first Rumble that Austin won, when he was in the ring by himself and the clock wound down and Bret's music hit, Vince just yelled YES! YES! YES! That may have been the same one that had Jake's return where he just yelled JAKE! THE SNAKE! ROBERTS!

Theo Dious 02-22-2016 07:01 PM

Vince as a commentator is the equivalent of Hulk Hogan. Bit technically good at the job but enough of a character that he's remembered as a specific kind of awesome.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2016 07:56 PM

Yeah I'd agree with that. It is awesome that he was able to "play that character" and transform so seamlessly into heel vince. He did it years before in the Memphis territory when the WWF did some work with Lawler and he was pretty damned good at it then. I think it was in '93.

His campiness is matched by none, and crafted perfectly.

McLegend 02-22-2016 09:07 PM

High impact maneuver

It involved an attempted chair shot by Jake.
