Pokken Tournament
Any of y'all grabbing it? Think Hasney is... I've preordered mine, picking it up today after work.
I kinda suck at/don't care much for fighting games, but the prospect of a Pikachuk suplexing a Charizard was too much to pass up. |
Also, this seems like good news
Pokkén Tournament punishes rage quitters By Wesley Yin-Poole Published 18/03/2016 Unlike Street Fighter 5, Wii U fighting game Pokkén Tournament punishes rage quitters. Not only that, the game asks you not to rage quit before you venture online - via a stern message delivered by an anime character. When you first venture online, Nia, your in-game trainer, issues a warning: http://images.eurogamer.net/2015/art.../80/format/jpg http://images.eurogamer.net/2015/art.../80/format/jpg How could anyone rage quit after such a warning! Well, you can, of course. This is where Pokkén Tournament takes action. Quit out of a match early and you're docked Poké Gold, the in-game currency used to buy cosmetic items. http://images.eurogamer.net/2015/art.../80/format/jpg |
Yeah, picking mine up tomorrow as long as my other order arrives in town first. If not, sunday at the latest.
Didn't get the controller, but I'm still kinda tempted. |
I'm not really a big fan of different controllers etc... that being said, I do need to pick up a Pro Controller for my Wii U still at some point. Hope the Gamepad is sufficient for this
Gamepad should be fine since one player is on it for the multiplayer anyway. Will be using the pro for single player fo sho tho.
As much as I want to I think I will pass on the game for now. Not a fan of fighter games like Street Fighters in the least.
It's pretty cool but I hate fighting games and just button mash and get frustrated when nothing works. I'll be surprised if I'm playing it in a week lol
voice acting on the tutorial chick is aaaaaaaawful too
You would think/hope they might have some system in place or implemented soon after release to be able to tell apart someone who actually rage quits and someone whose session is disconnected because their internet sucks.
I've often been concerned that I might jump into a ting in GTAO, have my connection disconnect in the middle of it and then have myself be labeled as a "bad sport" or something. I think going forward, this is something the gaming industry needs to address with re: online play. |

To be entirely honest, if it's 2016 and your internet service cuts out routinely, I'm sorry but you shouldn't be catered to and you have no place playing online games.
The amount of times my internet connection has straight up just "cut out" for no reason in the past 4 years I can count on one hand. |
I have to agree, if your internet is disconnecting regularly then so be it. Don't enter a race if your shoes keep falling off.
The 'Pro' controller is a misnomer. Its alright but there's nothing pro about it, except the battery life.
Finally booting it up for the first time. Whoops.
I can offer a wXe webinar to you and RDD about not wanking or not buying Pokken Tournament
It's actually really, really fucking good. I'm shocked. I was playing it at first and the controls are so simple thinking it was babbies first fighting game with all the specials being one or two buttons. Then I get into it and realise there's a rock-paper-scissors game of normals, throws and counters (and counters can be charged) with a pretty big meta of cancelling missed ranged attacks and moves being different on the Field and Duel phases. This is pretty damn deep.
Oh, and Lucha Pikachu hits a Stone Cold Stunner too, which is nice. |
Bah gawd, that Chandelure had a family!
I never feel older than when someone names a Pokémon that I have no idea what it is
Right?
I recognize the originals but now theres like 1000 or something. |
I own all the Pokemon games, but never made it through the later ones. Had no idea what the fuck Chandelure was, but the super is dark as fuck

Chandelure is awesome, has one of the highest base Special Attack stats in the game, comparable or better to even some of the Legendaries. Thing's a beast even if it looks fucking ridiculous.
(talking about the mainline games, not sure how it fares in Pokken yet :D)
This game is good.
