While this may be unrelated, PWInsider.com is reporting that both Rhodes and Goldust left the SmackDown television taping this past Tuesday before WWE began filming the show.

Ruien 05-21-2016 01:53 PM

Meh. He is damn amazing but I will be happier not seeing him for around a year.

#1-norm-fan 05-21-2016 02:17 PM

WWE wasted a talent and they don't wanna stick around anymore?

The fuck you say...

Shisen Kopf 05-21-2016 02:20 PM

RIP

Lock Jaw 05-21-2016 02:22 PM

Don't think that is actually Cody Rhodes' twitter.....

slik 05-21-2016 02:25 PM

It is.

Good for him, going out when he wants and on his terms.

Lock Jaw 05-21-2016 02:25 PM

Nevermind.... official @StardustWWE account retweeted it.... guess it is legit....

Damn, that sucks.

Lock Jaw 05-21-2016 02:25 PM

We'll probably lose Eden Stiles too now, which also sucks.

owenbrown 05-21-2016 02:26 PM

shit

thekrow 05-21-2016 02:31 PM

Wow I hope its not true.

Totally out of left field and something I didn't expect.

Reminds me of when Eric D left CHW for a bodybuilding career, he was in his prime and just up and left.

I wonder of Cody has a new career in mind?

Shisen Kopf 05-21-2016 02:38 PM

Hopefully Cody joins up with CHW and gets to rassle Robb Banks

Volare 05-21-2016 03:10 PM

Well damn.

Evil Vito 05-21-2016 03:15 PM

Yet another guy WWE fucked up on royally.

Yeah that was the first thought that came to my mind, too.

Simple Fan 05-21-2016 03:29 PM

So is he done wrestling all together? Really couldn't see him going to TNA or ROH. Think a run in NJPW would be great for him. WWE really missed out on the Stardust character and I can see why he would want his release. Could be the best way to bring back the Cody Rhodes character back to WWE in like a year after successful time away.

Black Widow 05-21-2016 03:32 PM

It's all good Starburst will be the man in TNA.

erickman 05-21-2016 03:45 PM

when we find out who buys tna they will get some good wrestlers. I guess goldentruth will realy job now.

Ultra Mantis 05-21-2016 03:53 PM

Cody could do great things in Lucha Underground, his character work is top notch when he actually has something to do.

Emperor Smeat 05-21-2016 03:54 PM

He had been teasing for a while about dropping the Stardust gimmick, wonder if the WWE thought otherwise or the usual "Creative has no plans" type deal.

XL 05-21-2016 04:00 PM

Well this sucks.

GD 05-21-2016 04:21 PM

This sucks

Cool King 05-21-2016 04:23 PM

Sucks.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-21-2016 04:32 PM

Team Highway Geniuses will do very well in the Indy Scene.

dingdongyo 05-21-2016 04:41 PM

I will likely watch wherever he ends up.

Bad News Gertner 05-21-2016 05:39 PM

He pretty much peaked. He needs time away from the WWE to refresh.

Lock Jaw 05-21-2016 05:39 PM

Man, I remember Cody/Goldust vs. The Shield was such a hot angle/feud/match.

Evil Vito 05-21-2016 05:43 PM

I'm looking forward to seeing what he has to say about his future. As much as I'd love to see him try his hand in Japan or something to carry on wrestling (and he's only 30, so there should be plenty of room in the tank) it wouldn't be much of a surprise if he's just done with the industry.

Maybe he just doesn't see the point in carrying on with Dusty not around? He had said he wanted to continue the Stardust character to honor his father but WWE aren't doing anything with him, so maybe that's it.

no he didn't man...

Volare 05-21-2016 05:48 PM

Well....let's start naming obvious factors that could lead to it.

Dusty
Frustration with direction of Stardust
Frustration of not being used period
Someone did/said something that pissed him off
Maybe something happened involving Eden (Quit, random disappearance, kidnapped by someone here on the forum)

Only time will tell.

Theo Dious 05-21-2016 06:18 PM

They really screwed up by not having Dustin vs Cody in some foem at Wrestlemania, particularly when Dusty could have been involved. Stardust was a benter thing than should have been expected, they should have run hard with it.

Totally agree, feel like he could just be done with wrestling. The thought of him going to Japan though is intriguing. I'd imagine he'd be a huge success over there and maybe even get a IWGP Heavyweight championship run.

VSG 05-21-2016 08:35 PM

I will miss him, and Eden.

Lock Jaw 05-21-2016 08:38 PM

Eden is the only one suitable to announce KEVIN OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWENS

He's not World Champ material. He's an IC guy who has been around for 10 years. It's time for a break. Take Ziggler with you

Is it rumored she's leaving. He doesn't say anything about her in his tweets. He hasn't even been released yet just asked for it.

Wishbone 05-21-2016 11:26 PM

Well fuck... Wish him well with whatever he decides to do in the future. So much wasted potential, but what's new with WWE. :-\

Yeah! I remember them wrestling each other at a random PPV and it getting a very lukewarm reaction.

Jordan 05-22-2016 12:55 AM

Well I'm glad he did it. He's been wasted and if he can get a job in NJPW then he'll return as a main eventer someday.

Maluco 05-22-2016 01:00 AM

Think I would side with Gertner on this one. Not a lot more could be done with him at this stage and he has obviously been around a long time.

Hated Stardust tbh. Thought it was just him jumping around and trying to be wacky. It lacked all the things that made GoldUst great at his peak. Goldust could be intimidating, unpredictable, wacky and crazy, even downright scary. He was a serious threat and was played perfectly. He had the amazing entrance and this great mystique and presence. It was a unique character, and at the time, it pushed the envelope and was allowed to be edgy and controversial.

Stardust is a weaker all round character in just about every way, being played in an era where there was never going to be any edge to the character. It was a poor imitation.

In saying that, I think Cody has it in him to reinvent himself and come back as a bigger player. If the likes of Luke Gallows can do it, then Rhodes definitely can.
