Is Money in the Bank a bigger ppv than Survivor Series?

It always, IMO, seems like it is a bigger ppv and is one of the big 4 each year while Survivor Series usually seems kind of lame.

Well, according to the WWE this has multiple Mania main events on the card this year so it's hard to top it.

drave 06-18-2016 07:17 PM

This year's MITB > Wrestlemania without even having to try.

Mr. Nerfect 06-18-2016 07:37 PM

Yes.

slik 06-18-2016 09:14 PM

I imagine MITB has done larger buyrates than Survivor Series for a while as well.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-18-2016 09:16 PM

Yes.

Emperor Smeat 06-18-2016 09:48 PM

Yes and mostly because the WWE pretty much usually stops caring about the rest of the year after Summerslam is done.

With the way the WWE has treated Survivor Series over recent years, its more like in the middle of the pack for yearly ppv rankings. Only still gets treated as a big deal by the WWE because of its history and not because of the ppvs themselves being constantly great.

I think WWE stopped caring about Survivor Series when Cena/Rock vs Miz/Truth didn't do well.

No. Also, wtf slik with that joke option? I ALWAYS use protection (i.e. wearing pants) when posting, sorry to disappoint you.

I don't think so, I see it as the new King of the Ring. I never considered KotR was a bigger event than Survivor Series so I won't MitB.The cards can be better at times though.

Stickman 06-19-2016 11:38 AM

Survivor Series has history but has been lame for years and years. I would love them to go old school and have the surviving members team up for a match later in the night.

One problem with SS is that in the team matches guys get eliminated so easily whereas singles matches requiring 17 finishers to end it. This makes guys look weak.

Mitb has a lot riding on the line therefore is more important.

Well the WWE did announce in 2010 that they were dropping the event, only to say "Nah, we're keeping it now" four months later.

So they haven't really cared much about the event for a while now. The PPV buys for the event have been going down every year since around 2007, so it looks like three years in a row of Survivor Series buys going down made them announce that they were dropping the event, with maybe just the history of the event and possibly fan "outcry" being what made them change their mind four months later.

Now at this point, I think the history of the event if the only thing that's keeping it alive, as I think if they were to drop it now, not a lot of people would really care compared to back in 2010.

Savio 06-19-2016 12:26 PM

I think it's safe now since everything is on the network now.

Meh, pretty much every ppv is a glorified raw these days anyway. =/

Definitely. I really wish they could go back to taking Survivor Series seriously though. Used to love when there were multiple tag matches on the card.

Having a "big 5" again would be great.

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2016 09:32 AM

There's no reason that you can't have a pretty big elimination tag. This year it could be The Club vs. The Wyatt Family or something. Elimination Chamber was a good fit for Survivor Series. I wouldn't condemn yourself to having it every year, but bringing it back for the World Title program would make it a pretty huge event on its own.

Then you've got a potential debut, which you could always run as a bit of an "Undertaker/Rock got their starts at this event" attraction. Whether you want to debut them in singles matches or as part of a team is up to you. But there's no reason this PPV cannot be somewhat special.
