NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- IMPACT Ventures [IMPACT], the parent company of TNA Wrestling and IMPACT WRESTLING, today announced the appointment of Billy Corgan as its new President. Current President Dixie Carter becomes Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer of IMPACT. As President, Billy Corgan will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations for IMPACT and its affiliated brands. As Chairman, Carter will focus on planning, partnerships and growth.

“Billy is a visionary, an iconic artist and savvy businessman with an incredibly gifted creative mind. He has built a decades-long successful global brand, and also has a deep passion and understanding for professional wrestling,” said Carter. “In working with Billy over the last 16 months, he has impressed me to the point that I’ve been in discussions with him to take an elevated strategic leadership role within the company. The more we discussed our vision for the organization, the clearer it became that position needed to match his commitment.

We are entering an exciting new era for IMPACT and will be working to continue to define our brand, develop global strategies for success, and structure for future investment and growth,” added Carter. “These moves, effective immediately, signify the team’s determination to work together to effectively cover more ground and capitalize on TNA’s current momentum that has seen ratings rise in recent months."

Good news, Don't guess they found any other investors and Corgan was pretty much it.

Simple Fan 08-12-2016 05:14 PM

Also, why 2 threads slik?

slik 08-12-2016 05:27 PM

I didn't realize there were two, must have happened when I edited the original post. For some reason, sometimes when I click edit on the original post, it deletes all content in it. Drives me crazy.

This is all sort of surreal to me still. The Smashing Pumpkins, ya know?

Hanso Amore 08-12-2016 06:11 PM

This is all ceremonial. She will still maintain the top position of power as chairman, and will also still be involved in day to day ops.

This is a veiled attempt to make it look like she is out the door to get some investors.

Title should be changed to "Fixing: Dixie Carter steps down as TNA President"

Maluco 08-12-2016 06:21 PM

Anyone remember him smashing (pumpkins) Lou e dangerously with the guitar in ECW?

Seems to have been a fan for the longest time, and apparently he was very involved in #broken Matt stuff. Good call I say!

Thought that said "Chief Security Officer".

Thread should be called Because of Lose Dixie.

Good for Corbin but doubt its going to do much for the long run since Dixie still is in charge of everything in the end.

Doesn't really doing anything for all the big investors TNA had tried to court in the past since they all wanted Dixie completely out of power.

Should have hired Droford instead

Black Widow 08-12-2016 08:21 PM

Despite all the rage wrestlers still won't get paid a wage.

I actually heard Billy is a pretty wealthy guy. I've heard he's a really smart guy and invested his money wisely from his music career.

Lock Jaw 08-13-2016 07:08 PM

Investing in TNA doesn't sound so wise! :shifty:

Simple Fan 08-13-2016 07:15 PM

I don't know he turned his investment in to being the President of the company. Pretty wise.

That's probably partially true. I heard that when he wanted to buy MLW over a decade ago, his accountants actually said "You can't afford that." He was probably used to money, then had to take stock. He's probably got a lot out there.

You don't buy into plummeting stock even if they agree to make Universal Champion of the Board.

Sometimes you got to take risk. They had already plummeted and are now to a point where they can start to grow again. He got in on the cheap, had to bail them out and is now President of the company so it seems like it's worked out for him so far.

The other thing that I've heard in wrestling, like he really sounds like he loves wrestling when he does interviews. He had a small promotion years ago and this just seems to be the "next step" for him. The company seems to be slowly climbing out of the hole it was in last year around this time, let's see what happens....

Simple Fan 08-16-2016 05:39 PM

I agree and they seem to be going in the right direction with Dixie stepping down. I wish she would have give up even more power but this is a start.

Personal opinion, I don't think it was "Dixie's fault" that TNA had all the problems it did late 2014 - 2015. I think there were a lot of problems that arose in the company, and a lot of things had gone "unchecked" for years. I think that now, especially with a new person in charge, things are gonna be a lot tighter on the business side (hell, if I was investing my money and I was in charge, I'd make sure there's no loose ends) and hopefully some consistency on the business side will make the weekly shows run smoother...

Emperor Smeat 08-16-2016 07:54 PM

The Hogan years really screwed up the company in the long run with the worst being financial related stuff. That was when they started to tour a lot and roster becoming bloated without getting enough back to cover the costs.

evanbrown 08-16-2016 08:39 PM

If TNA wanted to be big league they would sign John Cena.

Sixx 08-16-2016 10:58 PM

man, billy corgan's career went to shit
