What did Tony Schiavone do???

Something tells me it has to do with spoiling Foley's title win. It doesn't make sense since they worked with Bischoff but it still wouldn't surprise me.
Is Tony Schiavone Jim Cornette's cousin?
Being the voice of WCW for years probably.

He fucked Stephanie.

Maybe if has to do with constantly whining about how he's been blacklisted by WWE and Vince McMahon. #selffulfillingprophecy
I do actually get the idea that he took WWE not giving two shits about him after they bought WCW as meaning he was "blacklisted".

Either he bashed WWE and/or Vince really badly at one point after WCW folded which I don't remember if he ever did or Vince legit still holds some sort of grudge over him for spoiling RAW results when Nitro was winning.
Wikipedia says he worked for the company for a year prior to going to WCW but doubt he burned any bridges there or it would have been something mentioned a lot by now. |
Yeah he commentated some ppvs in WWF
I'd actually love to see Tony Schiavone back. Have Tony and Corey Graves on RAW and Mauro and JBL on the other show. Michael Cole can do an exclusive interview as part of RAW. Jim Ross back for PPVs. Tom Phillips to be the Voice of Tomorrow in NXT.
Could just be nostalgia getting the best of me but I kinda miss Schiavone's voice calling major rasslin' matches.
He's a fan of Deep Space Nine. So, we know he has taste. He had Major Kira as his twitter image for awhile.
Schiavone was good when motivated and one of the worst when not. The MAIN issue and this could be creative direction in general was him claiming every Nitro was the biggest night in wrestling history. I think it worked when the nWo was at its peak and literally every Nitro something crazy would happen, but as it kept happening it seemed more ridiculous.
I just remember him announcing Nitros in sweat pants, sweaters or sweat shirts. The literally definition of phoning it in.

I fucking love Schiavone as a play by play man. He had the ability to heighten the feeling of a moment, imo, and I don't believe that is something you can learn.
Was watching Goldberg return in 2000 to lay out Tank Abbott and Schiavone was gloriously good. |

RIP, he was a good lad

The sterile commentary of today makes one nostalgic for the days of Ol' Shiavone.

Word, Corey Graves thinks he is the next Bobby Heenan, it's very forced and Carrot Top-ish
Corey Graves, content-wise, is very good. I can understand the complaints of being forced though. He's almost trying to be too clever. I don't know how else to put it. He's easily the best color guy they have at the booth at the moment though -- the only guy you could consider "good."
Graves would be better if he wasn't so very clearly scripted. He and Saxon are woeful together.
I really don't get the role of these third and fourth guys on commentary. Have a play-by-play guy that is enthusiastic about the product and a color guy that analyses what we see. Between RAW and SmackDown they have 7 unique commentators. There's 9 if you include 205 Live and NXT.
