Yes

Fignuts 12-25-2016 06:26 AM

Fuck yeah. Looks good.

Frank Drebin 12-25-2016 07:52 PM

Cool. Looking forward to it. Hope it continues getting into the mythology Prometheus "started" and provides some answers to the questions they posed n such. I know they've said it's going to have more horror elements which is fine, but I'm hoping it isn't trying to be Alien 2.0

RP 12-25-2016 09:09 PM

They had me at Danny McBride.

RP 12-25-2016 09:10 PM

Is Noomi Rapace in this one?

Sixx 12-25-2016 09:12 PM

yeah, she's in it

Frank Drebin 12-25-2016 09:13 PM

Think so. It was weird because at first they said she wouldn't be in it, then all of the sudden they were like "oh yah now she's in it" so who the f knows what the hell that was all about.

RP 12-25-2016 09:15 PM

Didnt see her in the trailer

Sixx 12-25-2016 09:18 PM

she's officialy listed as a cast member. don't know if she was in the trailer, might have missed her but sure as fuck she is in the movie

Sixx 12-25-2016 09:19 PM

not sure what the deal is with guy pearce, guy died in prometheus.

prolly a hologram or some shit

Kalyx triaD 12-25-2016 09:38 PM

There's a chance the planet is Paradise itself from the original Prometheus 2 concept. Probably retained after Fox had Ridley make it more Alien-like. We could still get the answer of what the Engineers were trying to do with that Xenomorph making goop.

Sixx 12-25-2016 09:42 PM

thought this was gonna happen on the same planet from prometheus, seeing how they supposedly find david there.

Kalyx triaD 12-26-2016 04:22 AM

David comes off an assembly line, dude. lol

Sixx 12-26-2016 04:27 AM

yeah, but i heard it specifically mentioned that the one here is the one from prometheus

Kalyx triaD 12-26-2016 06:01 AM

Well there's another mystery with him having a new body.

Sixx 12-26-2016 06:26 AM

Michael Fassbender as Walter and David: Walter is a synthetic android created by the Weyland Corporation, who assists the crew aboard Covenant.[5] David was an earlier-made, less advanced android, formerly a crew member of the destroyed Prometheus

this is from wiki so take that as you will

Kalyx triaD 12-26-2016 06:08 PM

"Walter" wtf? Not Ein or Eric? They threw the series tradition of new androids being named alphabetically out the window.

Blue Demon 12-26-2016 07:15 PM

Looks pretty good, kinda looking forward to it now

Like Prometheus Fox cut way too much into the trailer.

Rammsteinmad 03-01-2017 08:40 AM

Meh.

I would bet that she will be in this film about as much as Michael Biehn was in Alien 3.
Michael Bien was so angry about being killed off in that movie that he demanded and recieved almost the same rate as he got for the whole of Aliens. I think that also caused some sort of ammendment to actor's rights in use of their own images but I may be wrong about that part.

As for this fim I am looking forward to it.
Bearing in mind I was looking forward to Prometheus and what we got was basically a much longer version of one of the opening scenes in the original Alien. Croissant shaped spacecraft, gigantic corpses...I mean they really didn't add much more did they?
Just the addition of the black goop which made the film pretty pointless without any sort of explanation.

I hope this is much better with at least some actual explanations going on because I don't think I'll trust anyone involved again if they pull another Prometheus.
I've always wanted to watch that with the writer's commentary. I don't even know if there is commentary with the screenwriter but it would be nice to know what was cut.

RP 03-03-2017 05:42 PM

I'm assuming the story line might be that Rapice character finds a planet where they can start new life, but by the time they get there, the plant has been overrun by Aliens. But i could be totally wrong.

I'm just happy to see Danny McBride seems to have a nice role in this.

Seanny One Ball 03-03-2017 06:15 PM

Prometheus had a lot of flaws. Charlize does the least necessary "dad" reveal ever, Noomi Rapace is the least relatable lead since Shelley Duvall and there are four hugely talented Brits that do very stupid or very little.

I've got the Blu Ray with the commentary. Its pretty interesting. The original writer said it was supposed to be much more of a direct tie-in to the Alien movies. Then he said they gave the script to Damon Lideloff who changed just about everything to make it more sequel friendly. That's why you have a movie that asks a thousand questions and gives no answers at all. They wanted to drag it out forever like the X-Files or Lost. The writer was none too thrilled about everything getting changed but he was just like "it was my first script for a major movie so I guess this is what happens. Sucks." Pretty good stuff.

Are you trying to spell "Ian"?

Kalyx triaD 03-10-2017 03:33 AM

Any name with E. Point is they were alphabetically named throughout the series. Yes, Ein is a name.

Seanny One Ball 03-11-2017 06:08 AM

The android thing fucks me off too but it's the inexplicable non-connection between Fassbender and Lars Mikkelsen that gets me. The timeline and the science just do not match up.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2017 02:28 PM

Well honestly I can live without another attempt at a CGI actor to make the andriod line visually cohesive. The Bishop question in Alien3, as well as everything else in Alien3, kinda shook that up anyway.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2017 02:30 PM

And then there's this meta arc with the andriods that may or may not tie into Bladerunner... depending on how Ridley feels when asked.

Fignuts 05-19-2017 11:39 PM

Just got back. Enjoyed it a lot. It was slower than I thought it would be, but not in a bad way. Very good slow burn. Many more memorable characters than Prometheus. They did a good job there.

We don't get anymore real insight into the engineers or their motivations, but I wasn't expecting any, since this is a focus on the alien and scott has several more films planned. We do learn a lot more about the alien though.

Doesn't match the tension of the first film, but that's like saying "hey that painting you did is aweaome, but it's not as good as the Sistine Chapel". The scary parts continue the tone in Prometheus. More about suspense and unnerving imagery, with plenty of gore.

Only gripe
SPOILER: show
You could see the Walter/David twist at the end coming a mile away. It was so predictable that I wish they would have just shown David putting on Walter's clothes. That said, the reveal is still great because it's executed well, and fassbender is amazing.

slik 05-20-2017 02:04 AM

I really enjoyed it. Just got home from seeing it. It's sort of a perfect blend of Prometheus and an Alien film. It still plays with some lofty concepts but it also has a traditional horror feel to it. I think the most surprising scene of 2017 so far is probably the Michael Fassbender on Michael Fassbender erotica.
