World Of Sport Wrestling
It's on now. I'm watching.
4 way Ladder Match to gain entry into a Battle Royale later in the night. Delicious Danny is a bankrupt man's Macho Man.
I'll probably download this or stream it when I can, the reports from the live taping were really interesting.
It wasn't horrible. Camera cuts somehow worse than WWE cuts though.
nope

Anything with Grado is automatically terrible.

I watched and enjoyed. Felt rushed, like a lot of matches needed more time, particularly the ladder match which felt like a spot fest.
Some good talent involved but on the lower card rather than the two they picked for the main event. Although better talent on the UK scene absent from the show. Was filmed quite a while ago I believe so might not be due to the WWE tournament. However the production values were very good, can't think of many outside the WWE who can manage that. Getting JR in was a good move but probably an issue if your most well known name is a commentator. Possibly adding a handful of known US indie names who wanted to be involved due to the 'prestige of World of Sport' might have helped. Overall I thought it was good with room for improvement. But anything that showcases British indie wrestling is great, as that will have reached 100s of times the people in the UK as any other show those guys have done. |
For those in the US, be aware that in the UK that will have demolished RAW and SmackDown in terms of location ratings, simply because of the channel it was on.
Right, it's on a national over-the-air station. It's like if Raw or Smackdown were on NBC.

is there a way to watch it here in the US?
It has no home in America. Probably somewhere on youtube if somebody posts it.
It was certainly better than any episode of Raw in 2016, that's for sure.
According to the Observer, the pilot/debut show had around 1.25 million viewers which isn't high enough to guarantee it becomes a series nor low enough for ITV to drop all plans for it.

The week before was Christmas Eve and they were showing a family film. Very difficult to compare.
Although for comparison, that seems to be about 10x the viewers RAW gets in the UK (although not based on the most reliable of sources) so shows how important it could be to UK wrestling. I guess cost would factor in too. How much would this cost per show compared to the other options ITV would have for that slot? From memory an hour of Saturday evening is normally taken up by something like You've Been Framed (A clip show of 25 year old funny home movies with a shite comedian as a voice over) which I would imagine is a lot cheaper. |
