TPWW Greatest Manager of All Time Tournament: Semi-Finals

#1-norm-fan 11-03-2017 01:05 AM

Last round before the inevitable. I feel like Hart vs Heyman actually would have been a decent matchup but this is how things worked out.

Destor 11-03-2017 01:08 AM

Woulda loved hart v heyman.

Pitty votes for both losers tho

#1-norm-fan 11-03-2017 01:45 AM

Yeah, seeding no longer matters at this point. I urge everyone to pity vote away.

#1-norm-fan 11-03-2017 01:46 AM

I think a case could be made for Bearer over Heyman. I'm not gonna make it... but I feel like someone could.

Blonde Moment 11-03-2017 02:30 AM

Paul is Iconic but Bobby was everything that made wrestling fun for me. In his era there was no one else who could touch him and quite frankly as far as the obvious showdown goes I think Paul Heyman would vote for Bobby as well.

Whole thing is inevitable. Should have left out Heenan from the start and made it "Best Manager besides The Brain"

#1-norm-fan 11-03-2017 03:15 AM

I pitched that idea. Ultimately though, it seems silly to leave out the obvious winner. The journey would have been the same just with one less predictable matchup. If I'm gonna do one these regularly, we've gotta give Heenan his "best manager" win. Makes everything legit.

Sepholio 11-03-2017 05:40 AM

I voted for THE MOUTH OF THE SOUTH.

Because I can. So what? Wanna fight about it?

Blue Demon 11-03-2017 10:12 AM

Bearer is a classic for me, so I went with him....Heenan is one of the best of all time, without a doubt.

Emperor Smeat 11-03-2017 04:53 PM

Had a tougher time thinking about who'd I pick for a hypothetical 3rd place match than the semi-finals matches themselves.

Bad News Gertner 11-03-2017 09:47 PM

We definitley need a third place match

#1-norm-fan 11-03-2017 10:09 PM

We'll have one. I was planning on having the guy with the most votes overall be considered the bronze winner anyway. Might as well do a matchup for it.

Destor 11-04-2017 11:12 AM

We knew gold and silver when thisnstarted so bronze would be fun for sure

Destor 11-04-2017 11:13 AM

(Though id argue hart was silver)

Blonde Moment 11-04-2017 11:25 AM

So are we thinking Paul is 4th here?

Bad News Gertner 11-04-2017 12:04 PM

I'm not sure who would win between Bearer and Hart. It'll be close.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-04-2017 01:02 PM

I honestly thought Bearer vs Heyman would have been closer.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-05-2017 01:07 AM

Hard to vote against the man who made "Lance Russel's nose" but it's Bobby Heenan. I'd vote him over Paul Bearer since Paul only managed a few in the real deal of the WWE.

Bad News Gertner 11-05-2017 08:06 AM

Taker, Kane, Mankind and Vader is a pretty good resume.

Shisen Kopf 11-05-2017 03:03 PM

Some poster here had a most excellent Paul Bearer tribute in their house. Can't remember who the hell thst damn poster was tho

hb2k 11-06-2017 03:24 PM

On the flip side, I'm surprised Bearer and Heyman are so close, maybe I shouldn't be. Thought this would be a cakewalk to the inevitable final...

#1-norm-fan 11-06-2017 03:38 PM

Cornette under-performing is the real surprise of this tournament to me.

Destor 11-06-2017 03:39 PM

I think you just underestimated Hart...

Destor 11-06-2017 03:39 PM

Corny did great until he met the Mouth of the South...

#1-norm-fan 11-06-2017 03:56 PM

I think the general consensus with the IWC has always been that Heyman and Cornette were neck and neck for 2 and 3.

Cornette actually only faced Hart last round because his seeding had dropped thanks to under-performing in the earlier rounds. I think he was like 5th and Hart was 4th.

#1-norm-fan 11-06-2017 03:57 PM

Correction: He was 6th and Hart was 3rd.

Big Vic 11-06-2017 04:36 PM

Fuck Cornette.

Yeah, definitely this. I think people are butt-hurt because they don't like the logic he continuously fucks them with. Most sane places you go have Heenan as undisputed #1 with Cornette and Heyman alternating between #2 and #3, depending almost entirely on your subjective opinion. I think this is generally agreed upon by the performers themselves as well. Jimmy Hart is not my cup of tea, and he is a legend, but I honestly think he's "the best of the rest."
