The legacy of HHH

I was watching a dvd where HHH lumped himself in with Austin and the Rock as the guys who saved the WWE. It got me thinking :

If we removed HHH from ever being in the wwf it would not make much of a difference to the company. He was/is an average wrestler who would have been forgotten a long time ago.

So if we went back in time and deleted HHH - what would have changed?

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-28-2017 10:58 AM

2000 maybe wouldn't have been as good. But that's about it.

Lock Jaw 12-28-2017 11:00 AM

Some other people would have been champion during his reign of terror. Batista might not have been as big of a star.

Shisen Kopf 12-28-2017 11:11 AM

Triple H disappears? Then who would hump a Katie Vick mannequin dressed up like Kane? Without that, i wouldn't want to be part of the WWE Universe

Destor 12-28-2017 11:21 AM

Triple H is a very over act and has been since 97 unless you ask the internet. DX ran by H was a merch mover of the absolute highest order at the peak of the attitude era.

Corrected.

Re-watch those attitude era HHH promos and matches. MIDCARD at best. He rose to the occasion in late '99 and had a FANTASTIC 2000. Post quad injury he was just another big body who had some good moments.

Destor 12-28-2017 11:51 AM

DX merch was gangbusters. His position on the card doesnt mean he wasnt a top act.

Ruien 12-28-2017 11:56 AM

If you remove HHH then you remove DX which is huge.

X Pac and the NAO were more over.

Steph probably would have married someone from her college who knows nothing about wrestling.... he would be the head of creative for some reason.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:01 PM

They were all very over. Revisionist history.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:01 PM

Also you would not have NXT or the workrate based product you have right now...for better or worse

Big Vic 12-28-2017 12:08 PM

or

Test would have been a multiple time world champion and would have pinned Jinder Mahal last month (as long as he didn't overdose)

Heisenberg 12-28-2017 12:08 PM

Triple H is the past, present and future of the WWE

Big Vic 12-28-2017 12:10 PM

I feel the good HHH does outweighs the bad.
His reign of terror as boring as it was did make Batista into a huge star, I would not be against another reign of terror (with a different heel).

KIRA 12-28-2017 12:20 PM

*Well we wouldnt have NXT as it is*

for DX if a few things shifted around you would not need him keep HBK add X-Pac and the outlaws.(granted the chemistry of original DX is why it worked but the kliq were all buddies so who knows)

there are a few more things

I still say he isn't the legend he wants people to think he is.

Him swooping in for mania matches like he matters so much is a constant annoyance.

As I said nobody was clamoring for a Sting V Triple H match or a Taker V Triple H III

or Daniel Bryan V Triple H

Big Vic 12-28-2017 12:23 PM

Who came up with the idea of DX, HHH or HBK?

I think Xpac was in WCW at the time.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:23 PM

If H wasnt there when HBM went down in 98 DX would had not survived (well it wouldnt have ever existed; LETS SAY IT WOULD HAVE)

Sixx 12-28-2017 12:26 PM

Motorhead would not record "The Game" which is a badass song.

Big Vic 12-28-2017 12:29 PM

Who would have been HBKs friend in 97?.....Was Justin Credible there?

Motorhead would not record "Line in the Sand" which is an even more badass song

He was certainly there to keep it going, but he wasn't the most over act in it.

Look, he's always been good. But he's not in anywhere NEAR the same echelon as Austin and Rock, and that'll always stick in his craw. It's why he feels the need to fucking tell everyone he was.

There's nothing wrong with what he's accomplished, especially becoming COO of the company and having a long run. But there is something inherently irritating about him trying to present himself as some kind of wrestling god, which he isn't.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:41 PM

DX, which was an integral part of the success of the fed over WCW, was as over as absolutely anythign else in the business at that time. Austin, Rock, NWO, Goldberg, DX. This was the attituted era, and era coined by DX's image more than anything else.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:43 PM

H was a huge contributor to the boom. Him being a part of unit shouldnt discredit that. the HBK version of DX literally changed the business and the H led version was a massive act at a time when there was seriosu competition.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:44 PM

If it werent for the reign of terror no one would even question his role in the era.

Lock Jaw 12-28-2017 12:50 PM

Also without him someone like RVD could have been made champion. So thank goodness he was there.

Big Vic 12-28-2017 12:52 PM

You could have replaced HHH in DX with anyone:

Marc Mero
Mankind
Goldust
Terri

But what about Road Dogg then? Surely he should be held in the same regard as Austin and Rock? Or the Godfather?

No but he is held as one half of one of the greatest tag team of all time thanks to his run in DX. It's poportional.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:55 PM

Thats how over DX was. A mediocre team is one of the top 3 ever.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-28-2017 12:57 PM

We will only know the answer if HHH is removed from the equation. Destor, get me a time machine and a sniper rifle.

Destor 12-28-2017 12:59 PM

ON IT. SHOOT CHYNA TOO PLEASE.

Need to erase some images from my brain

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-28-2017 12:59 PM

PS. that is just so I can shoot Stephanie.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-28-2017 01:00 PM

Man I know this is fucked but I've totally cranked it to post plastic surgery chyna. Dunno why, found her hot af. FUCK YOU FOR JUDGING ME

Destor 12-28-2017 01:00 PM

During her IC run I was totally into her sexually...

Destor 12-28-2017 01:01 PM

she was a good worker and women who can work are hot...It's annoying

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-28-2017 01:03 PM

X Pac knew what we were talking about.

HHH dumped her once she was fuckable.

Sixx 12-28-2017 01:06 PM

Come the fuck on, people. You've seen her clitcock. Who the fuck would want to get inside that thing?
