Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels from SummerSlam 2002 is a classic.

10 matches of more popular wrestlers carrying him to a passable match

Yeah, that is true, but I was trying to omit it to be polite, haha.

There a lot of great matches and moments in your OP Steele. I'd have to say the most memorable Triple H moments for me are those two amazing Wrestlemania matches with The Undertaker.

Also I would go early and say the match on Raw Thursday Raw, or maybe it was Friday Night Raw, Triple H and Shawn Michaels teamed together for the first time against Undertaker and Mankind. I loved that match, it will always stick with me.

Here's to another 14 years of getting the "Fanatical HHH fan who likes him because nobody else does!" persona over!

I'm sure James Steele does really like Triple H. I used to like Val Venis. It's easy to project things onto guys that just aren't there.

Steele at least gets to laud the iron grip Triple H has given himself on wrestling as justification for fandom (as if you need it). It's like using your riches to justify the exploitation of children toiling in sweatshops, but while we're plugged into this world, he gets to gloat, I guess.

My Final Heaven 07-28-2018 07:26 PM

Forum gimmicks are srs bizness, man

HBK came off a 4 year break and carried Mr. 4/10 to one of the best matches of the decade. Fucking GOAT.

Mr. Nerfect 07-29-2018 12:35 AM

Who has Triple H actually put over in his career? I will concede Batista, because he really did prop him up to main event status, but I'm drawing blanks on anyone else.

My Final Heaven 07-29-2018 01:26 AM

Anytime he "put somebody over" by giving them a win, 99.9% of the time he got the win back off them in a rematch and made them look foolish to boot. Shelton Benjamin, Koslov, ect.

Everybody remembers the night that Jericho won the World Title from Hunter by goading into a match by insulting Stephanie, but what I never see anybody mention - after Y2J surrendered the title back to him, they made a tag match for the main event of the show where Hunter absolutely beat the fuck out of him before Pedigreeing him in the center of the ring for a clean squash. They've retconned out the fact that they made Jericho look like a complete fluke XD

Mr. Nerfect 07-29-2018 01:31 AM

I don't disagree with any of that. Even in recent years, when he does lie down, he's still in a more prominent position than that person the following year. See: Rollins, Seth; Bryan, Daniel.

#1-norm-fan 07-29-2018 01:11 PM

The fact that he felt the need to get his win back and go over Brock Lesnar at fucking WrestleMania is still insane to me.

His wife, by cumming first. :shifty:

Maybe we should keep up the “Triple H holds everybody down because we’re stuck in 2003” gimmick.

I am a fan of Triple H. He is a great all-around wrestler and I love his intense promos and his ability to balance being a badass heel and a chickenshit heel at the same time. His body of work is only rivaled by the handful of names that are the Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling. Honestly, the fact the IWC has shit on him and hated him so much for so long has made me more of a fan of his. He used that to his advantage to be an even more effective entertainer as “smart fans” have taken over crowds the past decade or so. I play up the HHH thing on here, but that is no more asinine than people still bitching about a 2 month program with Scott Steiner from 15 years ago. Most people have turned the corner and come to appreciate his work again and value his current role in WWE and NXT and the potential the product will have under his leadership in future years.

Bad News Gertner 07-29-2018 02:46 PM

It's easy to have a body of work when you get you self booked into programs with better wrestlers.

Take away sleeping with the Vince's daughter and he's Bobby Roode: nice little mid card heel.

Destor 07-29-2018 05:28 PM

the idea that you can have classic while being carried is out of touch

#1-norm-fan 07-29-2018 05:42 PM

Well, people used to say Eddie Guerrero could get a 5 star match out of a broom. And Triple H is arguably 20% more talented than a broom.

Triple H's only good moment...being punished like this for going over someone's head as a rookie.

Ha ha.

> = )

Now, now -- there is plenty to bitch about re: Triple H from this decade alone.

Roman Reigns

Sixx 07-30-2018 09:59 PM

What is the point of him using a sledgehammer? He never used the right end. Could just have a stick.

Mr. Nerfect 07-31-2018 07:47 AM

It's one of those dumb wrestling things that fans just concede, but people getting introduced to wrestling probably really fucking hate.
