Where do the New Day rank in terms of all time great WWE Tag Teams?

I've never really gotten the New Day but I recognize their talent, their success and how over they are. That being said, I honestly have no idea where I'd rank them. I definitely have them below the Usos that's for sure.

Shisen Kopf 08-22-2018 01:00 AM

1-Hart Foundation
2-one of the Express teams take your pick
3-Harlem Heat
4-Free Birds
5-TIE New Day/Usos

There you have it. Usos aint better and that's a fact

Tom Guycott 08-22-2018 01:12 AM

Is it weird that I'm (mostly) inclied to agree with Shisen?

The fuck is going on here?

RP 08-22-2018 01:14 AM

They dont make Top 5 for me.

5. The Brainbusters
4. Hart Foundation
3. Edge and Christian
2. Legion of Doom
1. Demolition

Tom Guycott 08-22-2018 01:15 AM

There are worlds of difference between Rock n' Roll Express, US Express, Orient Express, All Night Express, Cartoon Express and Lex Express. You should really specify.

RP 08-22-2018 01:15 AM

I think New Day has a lot of talent.

As a traditional tag team, i dunno. I like the Uso's a lot better. I wish the Uso's were pushed harder. And it's not lost on me that the Uso's got pushed hard. I just want them pushed even harder. I love them.

On Lex Express, female valet's die from coke overdoses.

Tom Guycott 08-22-2018 01:17 AM

I think New Day would actually stack up better against history, though, if they really ran with the Freebird Rule.

And by "they", I think I should clarify WWE. They used it a little, but it wasn't even ever mentioned as such. Announcers should have put that over bigger. The group really only reference to it was on the goddamn cereal box BEFORE it was actually cereal in the box, and just a T-shirt.

RP 08-22-2018 01:19 AM

I know this is not the topic but..

If you put a gun to my head and asked me who the two tag teams currently that have the potential to be All Time greats.

1. The Uso's ... Easily.
2. The Bar.... These two are amazing creatively together and I think they may be underpushed along with The Uso's.

Those are the the two legit tag teams i think would be amazing working a program together but WWE has no time for that apparently.

At first i recognized the Freebird Rule, but now I dont even judge them by that. I dont even think about it. I have a good feeling as to who will be going at PPV's and I dont even think about them being a team of 3. That's actually a testimate to The New Day. They've done a great job blending that team of 3 rule in to play.

RP 08-22-2018 01:24 AM

I like The New Day. Even with all there antics. I dont like them on commentary though.

However, The Uso's seem special. Those guys are great on the mic and they bring it in the ring. Those guy's have something seriously special. I can see it.

RP 08-22-2018 01:28 AM

If there were one team that could break my Top 5, it's The Uso's, but WWE would have to give them the time of day. They really need to be on RAW.

Tom Guycott 08-22-2018 01:47 AM

One thing that I think helps them is that they aren't "twinsy". One problem with tag teams is the matching look down to a detriment. Even the Usos being literal twins doesn't stop them from being a little different from the other. When I was little, I didn't really like The Rockers because I couldn't tell Michaels from Janetty; I literally didn't know which was which, and didn't really care until the angle leading up to the infamous Barber Shop episode. That's something that has always bothered me about teams in WWE - they're generally either a package deal with no discernable individuality (Authors of Pain) or two guys who ain't doing shit otherwise just thrown together without even a recognized team name (I would have put B-Team here a few weeks ago, but since the company is actually rolling with that miracle run angle with them surprisingly, they are now disqualified from that classification... Slater and Rhyno, then?).

All three guys look different enough and do different enough things in the ring that you buy the members as both a collective AND individuals. That already puts them above teams like Heavenly Bodies, Fabulous Rougeaus, Bushwhackers, Bodydonnas, Headbangers, Headshrinkers, and the original iteration of the pre-"z" Hardy Boys to me.

Mr. Nerfect 08-22-2018 05:07 AM

In WWE canon, they are #1. Overall, I'm not sure if I could ever put them ahead of tag teams of other eras. When you factor in The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, Demolition, The Brain Busters, The Hart Foundation, The British Bulldogs, The Steiner Brothers, etc. I think they make Top 10, but there's no way they crack the first half.

Nicky Fives 08-22-2018 05:53 AM

Much better as heels, but I am a HUGE fan of Xavier & Big E.... Kofi never really did much for me....Both should be real World Championship contenders, but I will settle for tag team dominance for the time being....

Juan 08-22-2018 06:43 AM

I dunno where exactly I’d rank them, but they’d have to be up there. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them have a bad match, plus the fact that there’s 3 of them they’re able to not always have the same match every time like some tag teams. If there were just two of them, i don’t think they would have had the longievity that they’ve had

slik 08-22-2018 08:39 AM

^

Those are good points.

Shisen Kopf 08-22-2018 11:43 AM

The problem with the Usos is that the Uso on the left is clearly carrying the team

Big Vic 08-22-2018 11:50 AM

But the Uso on the right is trying his best!

Destor 08-22-2018 12:01 PM

They have to be above the Usos by a staggering amount. New day generate revenue.

Big Vic 08-22-2018 12:19 PM

Yeah but the Usos are related to the rock

Harlem Heat never wrestled for WWE and Freebirds only lasted a probation period. Only Express team that worked for WWE is Rock 'N Roll and that was briefly.

Big Vic 08-22-2018 12:46 PM

You just pissed off The Orient Express.

Got to agree with you on this point , used to love the matches between E & C, Hardys and the Dudley’s. The British Bulldogs will definitely be up there, Hart Foundation, Rockers (favourites as a young child), Head Cheese, Lo Down. OK not the last two.

Also I think the Bar are a bloody brilliant tag team, they’ve done really well after being put together.

There are some teams who had the potential to be great tag teams but WWE booking has so far made a mess of it, mainly talking about The Revival.

What about the New Midnight Express? Take a hike noob!

Jordan 08-22-2018 01:25 PM

I cannot rank them above E&C and The Hardy Boyz. I think Hardy Boyz are the best. They have an argument for top 5 though. But their story isn't over.

Emperor Smeat 08-22-2018 03:43 PM

Top 10 for sure and I'd argue the best WWE team post-Attitude Era.

What hurts them from reaching even more greatness is WWE's overall tag division being pretty weak for years and having long stretches of being stale as a team because of it.

Swiss Ultimate 08-22-2018 04:12 PM

My favorite tag team was RVD and Sabu.

Big Vic 08-22-2018 04:29 PM

Where do we rank the shield?

slik 08-22-2018 04:39 PM

THE
BIG
DOG

IT'S HIS YARD NOW

Shield, like New Day, aren't technically a tag team, as there are 3 members.

In terms of 3 member teams I think Shield is 1, New Day is 2. I don't know about who would be 3, Legacy, Wyatts before Braun, LOD with Droz, Demolition with Crush, DX with Hornswoggle?? Lol

Shisen Kopf 08-22-2018 08:07 PM

York Foundation better than all those bums

Why do you think having 3 members makes them technically not a tag team?

I know nothing about the group, so are you saying they're a stable primarily? Because I sort of understand that point if that's what you're saying.

If not, if they have many three-man tag team matches than they're definitely a tag team.

Bad News Gertner 08-22-2018 11:09 PM

The correct answer is 4th.

Theo 08-27-2018 03:27 PM

I think The New day sucks. They can't even be named as a great team. They're f'n clowns.

Mr. Nerfect 08-27-2018 06:15 PM

This pancake shtick is so fucking awful. I'm looking forward to the possible matches they can have. Now that the lawsuit is over, I can see WWE reaching out to Demolition and The New Day inducting them into the Hall of Fame next year.

Choviko Man 08-27-2018 06:24 PM

Dem magnific! Especially mi bowy Kofi Kingston. Gets mi hot wen him does dat boom boom drop.

Stickman 09-02-2018 05:06 PM

Honestly they are not a highly ranked team in my mind. They are basically a mid card team in a diluted era so somebody had to be champs. Their shtick is cringeworthy, every now and then they say something funny but it’s rare. Their in ring work is pretty bland and nobody takes them as credible tough guys. I don’t hate them but to compare them to the greats is a slap in the face to tag team rasslin

Shisen Kopf 09-02-2018 07:16 PM

Im not a fan of TND but I would never call them the Poo Day or say Poo Day Stinks. I would never do that.
