The Saudis ARE aware that Goldberg is Jewish, right?

slik 05-01-2019 09:11 AM

I think it's safe to assume a 'legend from the attitude era' will be on every show to appease the Prince...we'll see whose left to drag out in a few more years.

65 year old Kevin Nash vs 72 year old Shawn Michaels

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 09:16 AM

Good for Goldberg, I guess.

Jordan 05-01-2019 10:02 AM

I am intrigued.

Rammsteinmad 05-01-2019 10:39 AM

It's a shame the two world champions don't even get first mentions.

Jordan 05-01-2019 11:24 AM

Brock is done with UFC according to Dana... I guess the Saudi pay days are big enough and easy enough to say “nah” to a real fight with Cormier. I think it’s a smart move.

Just for fun I think it would be cool to see Undertaker vs Goldberg at this show, or maybe even a triple threat with Brock to make the match “better”? The Saudi shows can have big matches we’ve never seen or haven’t seen in a long time and I like that.

I personally don’t care that they are running shows there, they are really weird because of the audience and the couches etc... but I think it’s cool to do international shows, I’ve always loved that. When I was a kid seeing WWF World Tour with matches in France and Japan was so cool to me.

I think Goldberg has a typical Goldberg squash match against somebody on their way out. Maybe a handicap match against the Good Brothers, where he just destroys them in 3 minutes. An open challenge maybe, only Goldberg comes out solo.

WWE must be paying him a TON though. Honestly think it could be the highest pay day anybody has received from one of these shows.

It’s because they’re mid-carders.

It's because WWE refuses to let wrestlers become superstars.

I remember reading a report back in 2011 or so that said Vince was gonna choose one more superstar as "his top guy" after Cena, and that would be it.

At the time I assumed it was cause Vince was going to give up power after making one more mega star. Turns out, it just meant he was gonna pick one more guy to become a mega star, and after that he was going to purposely derail anybody who even starts getting close to becoming bigger than the brand.

Roman is clearly the last mega star Vince wanted. It explains why every guy that has had a chance at truly getting over gets buried for no other reason then Vince doesn't want anybody to be bigger than the brand.

Ryback
Ambrose
Braun
Shinsuke
Balor
Ziggler
Bray Wyatt
Rusev
Cesaro

They all got to the point where they were on the brink, some of them more than once, where if WWE did nothing other than what they had been doing with them and didn't kill their momentum, they could have been at Ortons level at least.

I am sure I am missing a few, but the ones that are still there are glorified mid carders at best, not because they failed, but because they were sabotaged by the booking of their characters.

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 06:59 PM

Oh yeah, there are problems with their booking. It’s a little some of the guys too. Like, Ryback was super-limited. Ambrose got in his own way and stopped caring. Ziggler got annoying. Cesaro didn’t click as well as I’d have liked. The booking doesn’t help.

I mean sure, but they don’t cut people’s heads off in France and Japan.

Lock Jaw 05-01-2019 07:25 PM

France used to be all about cutting people's heads off

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:29 PM

If they were still doing it, I’d have a major issue with that too.

Well if the name Goldberg isn't a tip-off somebody should warn them.

Pretty sure WWE wasn’t running shows back then.Though I’m sure they would have if given enough money.

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:33 PM

Saw an article that suggested his name for the show will be “Bill.”

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:34 PM

Rey did hide the cross on his mask when he went. I do wonder if they’ll announce him at the show, or just skip it.

Fignuts 05-01-2019 07:34 PM

I knew some fucking goober would say something about Marie Antoinette or something.

Lock Jaw. You fucking goober.

I don't know about Dean Ambrose it seemed like he was all and then it slowly became clear that they were never going to let him be anything but the crazy guy with no depth I think stopped caring then

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:34 PM

God damn it, this is so fucking...bleak.

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:35 PM

I hate this company so fucking much. I hope more talent pull out. Reigns, come on, man.

Hellish

KIRA 05-01-2019 07:36 PM

And then when Dean Ambrose went solo heal they did try to give him some depth only that depth was about the size of a puddle and he was this weird f****** Bane knock off because Vince had seen the Dark Knight Rises finally the previous weekend and it was horrible I don't blame Ambrose for leaving one bit.

Marie Antoinette could at least appear on a French PPV.

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:40 PM

People keep making fun of me for this, but at some point this is going to backfire HUGE for them. That propaganda video is going to go viral against them in a bad way at some point, or something. It’s not hurting bottom-line now, but it will eventually. Outrage doesn’t need to be consistent or contemporary. These could be WWE’s equivalents to to racist/sexist/homophobic tweets. The stink from this isn’t guaranteed to go away when the show’s over and they’re back doing WWE String Party or whatever in July.

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:45 PM

Meltzer did a bit with Alvarez recently where he suggested that Crown Jewel actually did affect ratings. They disagreed on the extent of that effect, but there’s no way it helps on that front.

Emperor Smeat 05-01-2019 07:52 PM

Wonder if Reigns is getting a sizeable boost in pay for this show since supposedly him and a few others refused to go to the last event due to feeling uncomfortable with the controversy surrounding it.

This was before he had to take a break to deal with his leukemia issues.

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 07:56 PM

I wonder if he really was going to pull out? Maybe it was the specific circumstances of the time? Either way, I hope he pulls out again.

Emperor Smeat 05-01-2019 08:23 PM

Probably since he had enough clout to do so and not be punished. Its why Cena and Bryan were able to do the same for the show.

Assuming he didn't have major leukemia issues to deal with, very likely WWE would have just tossed money at him till he relented since that was a very effective tactic against HBK. Going by interviews afterwards, HBK still regrets he took the money to come out of retirement.

Lock Jaw 05-01-2019 08:25 PM

They should have Elias sing a song insulting the hometown

Then he get beheaded.

They don’t really think Jews are evil. They’re just a convenient boogeyman to keep a population nervous. They didn’t care about having two Iranians on the first show either.

I thought for sure that Bryan would be shuffled down after that, but weeks later he was WWE Champion. It’s like Vince admires the balls of the people who tell him no. When it suits him. Such an idiosyncratic entity.

Well, the family didn’t care, but the Daivaris got death threats and now both are employed.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-01-2019 09:09 PM

Yes exactly. The royal family couldn’t care less, but they’ve built a super profitable narrative and they have enough information control that they can keep everyone else afraid.

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 09:12 PM

Oh yeah. The whole regime is bullshit. Oppression is the goal, and the method is variable.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-01-2019 09:20 PM

so it will be simple to explain away that Goldberg is one of the good Jews and not one of those Zionist money grubbers

Mr. Nerfect 05-01-2019 09:45 PM

He might still get a few death threats though. No biggie.

Danny Electric 05-02-2019 03:40 AM

They should have Hassan come out and get revenge on Undertaker.
