The NXT Name Generator is back

After a few years of most of the "known" signees keeping their names, they've apparently gone back to assigning new ones.

They also changed the names of a whole bunch of people who have already been making appearances on NXT.

ACH = Jordan Myles
Adrian Jaoude = Arturo Ruas
DJZ = Joaquin Wilde
Eric Bugenhagen = Rik Bugez
Garza Jr. = Angel Garza
Jessie Elaban = Jessi Kamea
Jonah Rock = Bronson Reed
Luke Menzies = Ridge Holland
Punishment Martinez = Damien Priest
Sam Shaw = Dexter Lumis
Shane Strickland = Isaiah Scott
Trevor Lee = Cameron Grimes

Some of these aren't bad. But some are just awful. Ridge Holland? Dexter Lumis? :lol:

"Swerve" Shane Strickland was such a cool name. But you don't wanna confuse the young, athletic black guy with Shane McMahon.

Eric Bugenhagen was already pretty damn over with the few appearances he made - but he's just using his nickname so it's whatever. Realistically his actual surname was too long for a fast-paced commentary environment.

Big fan of Jonah Rock and didn't know he'd signed with WWE, not sure about the name Bronson Reed though. Also, why change ACH's name?

screech 06-12-2019 01:23 PM

I have no idea who any of those people are.

ClockShot 06-12-2019 01:43 PM

Damien Priest. :lol:

Just call Martinez Mr. 666 or The Antichrist and be done with it.

Fignuts 06-12-2019 03:01 PM

Why do they even bother with a first and last name, when one of them is just gonna get taken away?

Evil Vito 06-12-2019 03:31 PM

Another one: Stokely Hathaway is Malcolm Bivens. Didn't even know he was with WWE.

It's so if they leave WWE owns the name they are most famous for.

They only started letting guys keep their names in 2015 or so, but with AEW now they aren't gonna let that fly anymore, in case of down the road.

I thought that, too.

In the same way they kept trying to name people with the initials K.O. I think there were a couple more besides Kassius Ohno and Kevin Owens that didn't quite make it in NXT, but I remember it being something they seemed to be pushing quite hard to get at.

Prob'ly what they were going for, since the genesis of Samuel Shaw's character was pretty much a wrestling Dexter. So just take him and the guy from Halloween. Perfect.
